TNA Wednesday Randomania - Sep 9, 2015

There's a lot of speculation going on regarding TNA's television deal with Discovery and I think it's important to put things in perspective. Firstly, neither TNA nor Discovery have made an official statement on the status of Impact after September so any speculation made by the dirtsheets is based mostly on a report that emerged earlier this year. It's imperative that we make sure that that's very clear. If the two sides continue to work together through September and into October and the rest of the year, there's absolutely no need for an announcement simply because TNA and Discovery agreed to a multi-year deal. So now that we've established that the premise of this story is, at best, speculative, I'd like to focus on what we do know.

Impact will air on Destination America through the month of September with episodes on Sept. 9th, 16th, 23th, and 30th, and from what I've been told, all of them are new episodes featuring original content. I added that last tidbit because there were some questions regarding the Sept. 30th episode, which was titled Countdown to Glory. September 30th is a regular episode of Impact and it is the go-home show for Bound for Glory. As of this column, however, that is the last episode listed on TNA's site.

This is where the uncertainty begins. TNA have not announced a set of tapings following Bound for Glory on October 4th or a live show on October 7th. This is concerning because TNA typically announces their tapings at least a month in advance in order to sell tickets (on the road) or draw a crowd (in the Impact Zone). It is September 9th and that announcement has not come. This leads me to believe that the likelihood of Impact not airing at all on television in the US after October 4th is quite high. Some have speculated that TNA may air the non-Impact matches that were taped at the last set of tapings while others have wondered if Jeff Jarrett's GFW might take over the timeslot on Destination America. I don't believe either scenario is likely. If DestAm doesn't opt out of the current deal with TNA, I'd imagine TNA would have booked another set of tapings after BFG. So why haven't they? This leads me to believe that TNA and Destination America will be ending their deal on September 30th.

With that said, I believe that a deal is in the works, one that will keep Impact on US television but judging by the lack of tapings after BFG, it might not be for some time. I'm hoping TNA makes an announcement soon but I suspect that Impact will premiere on a new network, most likely later this year or at the start of the new year. I realize it might be an anxious time for some but I have a good feeling about this and it makes me feel excited about TNA's future. I've been telling our members to trust the process for some time now and I want you to know that I say that with all the confidence in the world that everything will be fine. I wouldn't encourage you to do so if I didn't believe it wholeheartedly.
