TrailBlazin' Top 5 - Sep 9, 2016

In my time as a TNA fan, I don't recall there being a year where fans, including myself, questioned each passing week if the episode we just watched was the best of the year. This is where TNA is nailing it, by keeping it simple. I'm a huge WWE fan and I won't lie, they simply have too much going on. We saw another very strong episode this week and I'm excited to break it down!

#5 - Billy Corgan is making an 'impact'

"TNA President Billy Corgan" doesn't have the same ring as "TNA President Dixie Carter" just yet, but boy is Corgan off to a good start. I knew about the Impact Grand Championship several weeks ago when spoilers leaked on social media. Since then, I've been eagerly awaiting the official announcement that aired this week. Nothing against the King of the Mountain Championship, but I do think it was time to move on. That was another case of having good intentions, but it didn't pan out.

My hope is that the Grand Championship will have a different fate. The new rules involved is what the title, and the company, needs to set it apart from basically anything else in the pro wrestling world. As for the two tournament matches that aired...

#4 - Drew Galloway vs. Braxton Sutter

This was a cool match-up that we hadn't seen yet. I think it was wise to use these two for the first match because of their styles. We quickly saw that these types of matches will be hard-hitting and all over the place as the competitors attempt to impress the judges. Galloway going over was obviously the right choice. It seems clear that Drew will more than likely take on Aron Rex to crown the first champion at Bound For Glory, and that's something everyone should be pleased with.

#3 - Jessie Godderz vs. Eli Drake

I really wanted to take this time to praise Jessie Godderz. When I watched TNA weekly in 2014, The BroMans just didn't connect with me. I kind of thought their ring work was 'meh.' Here we are now, and Jessie, Robbie, and DJ Z are entertaining me each time they step in the ring. Jessie showed off a few different styles as he battled Eli Drake in this tournament match.

I was shocked Godderz had two wins over Drake, but it made sense in the end when Eli annihilated Jessie in the end for the actual win to advance. I'm not so sure Drake will make it past the next round, but this was a great showing for both competitors.

#2 - Press Conference

It's not often that you'll hear me praise a show for having its notable moments occur outside the ring. This show was certainly an exception. As I've said before, EC3 vs. Lashley really is a fitting main event for Bound For Glory. Seeing how 2016 has unfolded for both men, I feel like cheering for both. Lashley made a great case for himself on the mic in this segment, while EC3 was great as always. The segment was fun before the brawl even started! Lashley owned Ethan, which should certainly add to the build in the coming weeks.

#1 - "This is NOT beautiful!" - Abyss before being DELETED

Finding words to describe TNA's "Final Deletion" and "Delete or Decay" segments is hard for me. Like, I can't do the geniusness of it any justice. The lead-up segments from both teams, like the zoo and the car hijacking, was also a nice touch. Everyone involved did a fantastic job. I really don't care if this is supposed to be a wrestling show... That was awesome and so entertaining. I can't wait to see what's to come for these guys next week.

Conclusion

Can TNA top this show next week? Perhaps. I can say that most, if not all, of what airs next week is part of what I got to see when I attended the tapings last month. As I mentioned in the live discussion, Bound For Glory is shaping up quite nicely and I'm excited to see what the rest of the card will look like.
