Impact Post-Show Discussion for Sep 30, 2015

Many wrestling fans enjoy participating in fun discussions during Impact every week, whether it's on social media or wrestling sites. However, it's getting increasingly harder to find places where TNA fans can safely express their opinions on Impact without having to deal with the trolling of the anti-TNA crowd or the smarks who insist on taking the fun out of pro wrestling. For this reason, we felt it was important to make TNAMecca available to our readers and any TNA fans who would like to share their opinions with other fans during the show.  You can now visit TNAMecca to do exactly that in the comments section below each and every Wednesday night at 8PM EST. We feel that Wednesday nights will be a must-watch night of television and we're confident that TNAMecca will be the place to be for real wrestling fans. So make sure you join us every Wednesday night at 8PM EST for our live Impact discussion.

Savor the Glory

There is so much speculation and worry surrounding TNA currently at a time when they usually exude stability and have a previously announced schedule carrying them through the U.K. Tour of the following year.  While that annual U.K. Tour remains in place for 2016, there is a huge gap in TNA events (specifically Impact tapings) for the next 4 months.  There's a much-alluded-to India tour potentially sprinkled in that time frame which I imagine will be officially announced in the near future.  There are also multiple house shows on the docket, one of which has been converted into a ONO taping in New Orleans.  Otherwise, we don't really know what is happening with TNA's U.S. TV programming and, for whatever reason, they aren't going to say quite yet what the future holds in that regard.  With this "storm of the unknown" circling the TNA fan base, I've taken to heart the advice that Bob Ryder recently offered our community.  There are good things coming, so why should I waste time and energy worrying about when they may exactly come to fruition?  In the end, we have no control over the behind the scenes decisions anyway.  The day to day operations of Impact Wrestling are really none of my business.  I don't stress out about my favorite sports teams finances and management decisions so why should this be any different?  My attention is on the final product that I can watch on TV and I will continue to document my observations on that.  We do have assurance that the company will continue on and for now that's all I need to know.

The Other Side of the Squared Circle - Sep 23, 2015

Ding Ding! Ladies and Gentlemen welcome to another edition of "The Other Side of the Squared Circle." I am pleased to say that we are just over 1 week away from Bound For Glory, coming to you from my home state of North Carolina in the home of the "Nature Boy" Ric Flair, the Queen City Charlotte. I hope you are as amped as I am for the biggest event of TNA's year. The card does look thin at the moment but we have another edition of Impact to go, plus who knows what surprises our Queen of Impact Wrestling, Dixie Carter will pull out on us for the big show.

TNA Wednesday Randomania - Sep 23, 2015

- There are two episodes of Impact left before this year's Bound for Glory and thankfully - now that the Jarretts and their GFW goons are out - the writers can officially begin the process of building to what's typically described as TNA's biggest event of the year, a description that doesn't quite apply this year. Or does it? I'd say, looking back at everything that's happened this year, BFG comes at a time when it's most needed. I don't think there's a TNA fan who isn't clamoring for a live show in a venue other than the Impact Zone after seven months of several sets of tapings in Orlando, Florida. This year's BFG will give those of us who have endured weeks and weeks of watching our favorite wrestlers performing in front of a dreadfully apathetic crowd an opportunity to experience an Ethan Carter III or a Drew Galloway in front of an emotionally invested one. I defy anyone to imagine for a second the opportunity to experience the greatness that is the Wolves, Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards, in front of an excited live crowd that's paid for their tickets and not feel it in their gut that Bound for Glory is the biggest, and most important, event of this year.

Missing The Road To Bound For Glory

Before 2014, I used to talk up Bound for Glory to certain friends who had at least some interest in pro wrestling and occasionally one or two of them would come over to my place to watch the pay-per-view with me. BFG was the culmination of TNA's year and often signified the blow-off to certain angles and the start of others. It served the same purpose in TNA that Starrcade did for WCW and that Wrestlemania does for WWE.

Ding Ding! That was the opening bell so, Ladies and Gentlemen welcome to another edition of The Other Side of the Squared Circle, where we love wrestling more then the Young Bucks love superkicks. I hope you had a safe and pleasant evening of enjoying TNA Impact and Ring of Honor Wednesday night on Destination America.

TNA Wednesday Randomania - Sep 16, 2013

Every week, I typically focus on anywhere from one to five topics and thoughtfully share with you my thoughts but I thought I'd change up the format a bit for this week's Randomania. I've decided to chime in on several topics this week with a brief commentary for each one, and if all goes well, it might be a format that returns on a regular basis.

Eli Tho

As Eli Drake would say, "Let me talk to ya".  This is the column where Eli Drake officially receives an endorsement from TNAMecca.  Our community has spoken a lot about this man in the last several months and the majority of us agree that E-Li Drake is a wrestler that TNA needs to push.  It appears that this push is beginning to shape up pretty well by the looks of things.  He's scheduled for featured matches during all of their house shows leading up to Bound For Glory.  He just emerged with the informally named (thanks Count) Kings of Everything group on Impact next to Kenny King and Jessie Godderz in a memorable backstage segment and a 6-man tag match.  I've pointed it out before and I'll bring it up again:  Shaun Ricker a.k.a. Eli Drake was anointed by the late Percy Pringle.  If you know pro-wrestling history you have to respect that fact and pay attention to what that means.  Look at the past lineage of Percy Pringle (Paul Bearer) and you'll see that he had an important role in the careers of major superstars in this industry.  E-li Drake is next in line.  It's a shame that it has taken Drake this long to break out on the mainstream scene, but he definitely is receiving that legit chance now and it should be a very fun ride watching his character evolve in the coming months.  If you missed the infamous, cult classic Eli Drake self-made promo video (that unfortunately never aired on IMPACT), push the play button on that baby and drink it all in.  It is a perfect example of just how awesome he really is.

The Other Side of the Squared Circle - Sep 9, 2015

Ding Ding! Welcome to another edition of The Other Side of the Squared Circle where we love wrestling more than Count loves Eli Drake, I know I didn't think that was physically possible either. I hope everyone has had time to digest the latest edition of TNA Impact as well as get ready for next week when Lethal Lockdown rolls around. Also, I want to point out that I began writing this column on Friday, which was September 11th. If you haven't already done so please let the take time to remember the victims of that tragic day 14 years ago in New York City.

TNA Wednesday Randomania - Sep 9, 2015

There's a lot of speculation going on regarding TNA's television deal with Discovery and I think it's important to put things in perspective. Firstly, neither TNA nor Discovery have made an official statement on the status of Impact after September so any speculation made by the dirtsheets is based mostly on a report that emerged earlier this year. It's imperative that we make sure that that's very clear. If the two sides continue to work together through September and into October and the rest of the year, there's absolutely no need for an announcement simply because TNA and Discovery agreed to a multi-year deal. So now that we've established that the premise of this story is, at best, speculative, I'd like to focus on what we do know.

The Other Side of the Squared Circle - Sep 2, 2015

Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen to the latest edition of The Other Side of the Squared Circle here on TNAMecca where we love wrestling more than Brock Lesnar loves suplexing people. Ah, August has come and gone, and hopefully so has the blistering heat stroke inducing hell of a summer. It's hard to believe that we are already in the 9th month of the year. I hope the last edition did not turn you off to my column. Now let's get started, Ding Ding.

TNA Wednesday Randomania - Sep 2, 2015

- The invasion angle is officially upon us and although I wasn't too keen on another takeover storyline in TNA, I will make every effort to remain objective when reviewing the events. The big reveal came last week when Karen Jarrett announced to the wrestling world that she orchestrated the attacks on Bully Ray and Drew Galloway, a plan that Jeff Jarrett was apparently not privy to. Karen explained that her plan was to take back the company for her now husband, whom she felt was treated unfairly by Dixie Carter in the latter years of his career in TNA. I thought the reveal was a nice twist and one that made sense simply because Karen never appeared as grateful to TNA as Jeff did upon his return, originally to compete one last time in the King of the Mountain match at Slammiversary and again for his induction in the TNA Hall of Fame. In fact, she seemed rather indignant about the whole thing, especially since she and Jeff have been working on GFW for the last year or so.  In that regard, I thought it was pretty clever. Where TNA lost me, however, was the execution. Unfortunately, I couldn't help but laugh at Karen Jarrett's overly dramatic confession that it was she who was responsible for the attacks, not Jeff! "It was me!", she shouted in front of a silent crowd that filled the community playhouse in Orlando, Florida as Dixie Carter looked on in, well, shock. Shakespeare, this wasn't. More importantly, it wasn't pro wrestling either.
