Impact Post-Show Discussion for Jun 24, 2015

Many wrestling fans enjoy participating in fun discussions during Impact every week, whether it's on social media or wrestling sites. However, it's getting increasingly harder to find places where TNA fans can safely express their opinions on Impact without having to deal with the trolling of the anti-TNA crowd or the smarks who insist on taking the fun out of pro wrestling. For this reason, we felt it was important to make TNAMecca available to our readers and any TNA fans who would like to share their opinions with other fans during the show.  You can now visit TNAMecca to do exactly that in the comments section below each and every Wednesday night at 8PM EST. We feel that Wednesday nights will be a must-watch night of television and we're confident that TNAMecca will be the place to be for real wrestling fans. So make sure you join us every Wednesday night at 8PM EST for our live Impact discussion.

TNA Wednesday Randomania - Jun 24, 2015

- Tonight's live episode of Impact is the first since the fiasco that was May 8th, also known as the episode that Bully Ray returned and brought his girlfriend, Velvet Sky, with him. Bully Ray was the huge surprise Dixie Carter and others within TNA were teasing for days, the surprise that made even Billy Corgan tweet "Wow" upon seeing who it was backstage before the show. Corgan will fit right in with that kind of overhyping but I digress. May 8th was a show that was quite consequential, at least for me personally, because it left me with feelings of discontent with the TNA product and continues to do so to this day. Although Destination X exacerbated those feelings, it was May 8th that precipitated them. So I'm hoping tonight's show will do what May 8th did not, and that's deliver in a way that awakens in me a feeling of great enthusiasm for the product again. I want to enjoy the shows and feel genuinely excited for Wednesday nights again. Last week's show was a step in the right direction, as I stated in my new column Regal Time, but it's important that tonight's show follows suit and even improves upon the positives of last week. I think it's also important to lower our expectations for tonight's show simply because more times than not our expectations will not be met, and not because TNA can't deliver but because our expectations can often be unrealistic. This was certainly the case on the eve of May 8th when some predicted that the former world champion returning would be AJ Styles or Samoa Joe. I know because I was one of them.

Entering Critical Phase

This upcoming Wednesday will feature one of those ultra-important LIVE IMPACTs for TNA.  There's no way around it.  When so many shows are taped in advance like the company has done for an extended time now, it naturally places more importance on a show that does not have spoilers out there for everyone to see.  Unfortunately, this episode of IMPACT, in some ways is more paramount than Slammiversary itself.  Wrestling fans want to be sold on spending money on a real TNA Pay-Per-View again.  Why am I dishing out the extra $40 to $50 dollars next Sunday?  You tell me. What do you want to see?  There are no spoilers in the coffers to be had right now but that will change very soon.  To me, it's a fun time yet a critical time because people haven't "made their mind up" yet about whether they are going to invest that money into financially backing the product.  Now, I know a lot of people stream the shows for free but I am not one of those and I won't judge you for doing so.  If you do stream, TNA also has a new option to do that on the up and up through Flipps this time. Also, fans in France and the U.K. can watch Slammiversary for free on their respective networks as the event is shown LIVE (or you could record it and watch it later on).  The key is that those options are there for the first time in company history and it does add some extra significance.  I have spent real money on buying TNA pay-per-views for many years now.  I'm buying Slammiversary on Sunday, but then again, I'm going to do that out of loyalty and my affinity for TNA at this point.  There are those that sit on the fence and those are the fans that can be sold on buying this PPV by late Wednesday night.

...And They Pull Me Back In!

It's no secret that I've been quite vocal regarding my discontent with the current TNA product, particularly since the live episode of Impact on May 8th. That night, I was left with a sour taste in my mouth for reasons that I've already discussed in my Randomania column, and although I had begun to feel a bit better about the product in the weeks that followed, I could not shake off a feeling of apathy for Impact and the company in general. That was until Destination X on June 10th when for the first time in a long time I felt that TNA, for me personally, may have jumped the shark, so much so that I felt I needed to turn the channel during the show. It was the first time I had ever done such a thing since I became a fan of TNA ten years ago. Although I did eventually watch the remainder of Destination X later on that night, I don't regret making the decision that I made.

I would make the same decision again.

TNA Wednesday Randomania - Jun 17, 2015

If you've been a regular reader of my column, you'll know that I strongly believe that a promotion's status should be judged by the quality of its television program, not its backstage drama or the decisions the higher-ups make. Unfortunately, TNA has been a victim of this. Too many have allowed matters, that shouldn't, affect their enjoyment of the product, particularly in the last year or so. I am not one of them. I've enjoyed the television product quite a bit in that time. However...I feel like my theory has taken a hit in recent weeks and I'll tell you why. The decisions that TNA have made since March have begun to affect the quality of Impact and do so in a way that's quite damaging. Obviously, I'm not privy to the behind the scenes affairs and again, I don't have to be, but I can speak on the way I feel when I watch Impact. And lately, I feel that TNA isn't giving me the whole gamut of the pro wrestling experience - a genre that can inspire with awe or provoke feelings of anger or pure bliss when done right. Unfortunately, TNA isn't coming close right now.

What are Your Thoughts on the New X Division Championship Belt?

Yesterday, Dixie Carter unveiled a new X Division title belt. The belt is almost identical to the current one with the only exception being the color. Previously a lighter shade of blue, the new belt is green. We'd like to hear from you. What do you think of the new X Division title belt, and what do you suppose this means for the division? Is it a sign that the X Division could get a renewed focus by TNA? Let us know.

Ringside: Impact Wrestling Review - Jun 10, 2015

Where to begin...well, to say this show was poor is an understatement.  Honestly, the key to this show was the fact that it was named Destination X.  That Pay Per View name has a valued history associated with it.  There is a certain expectation when it comes to this annual showcase of the X-Division.  In recent years it has meant a boost in ratings and a general excitement surrounding the product.  This year, it fell flat.  Pancake flat.  It was taped in the middle of multiple days of tapings and in front of a no-energy Impact Zone crowd.  The luster was just not there.  All that and Grado got 3 backstage comedy segments and won his qualifying match to compete for the X-Division Title in the near future.  I could stop typing now and you would still get the point...but someone has to review this "Destination X".

TNA Wednesday Randomania - Jun 10, 2015

Destination X is one of my most anticipated shows of the year but if I'm being honest, I'm not as excited for this year's show as I'd like to be. In fact, I'm downright apathetic about it. And there's a good reason for that. The current X Division and its championship are as relevant as the TNA TV title was when Abyss walked off with it in 2013. The difference, however, is the X Division was once part of the fabric that is TNA, and wrestling fans still hold out hope that the company will finally come up with a real strategy to rebuild the division and commit to its long term success. Sadly, I don't think it's ever going to happen. TNA have done irreparable damage to the X Division and quite frankly, I'm not sure they're capable of restoring this once-prestigious division to its former glory.  I'm not even sure they fully grasp what the X Division truly means anymore, or what it represents. So how can they possibly repair this? I don't think they can. And I don't think they know how.

#NeedMoreBram

I have really enjoyed IMPACT lately and it's pretty obvious that the show has a lot to offer pro-wrestling fans that will give the product a chance. However, there is one wrestler that has been noticeably absent lately and I feel like speaking my mind about it.  He's a man that has legit World Heavyweight Championship potential.  It's the man with those unmistakably psychotic, bulging eyes.  The man that loves to show the world the brighter side of suffering.  The one and only BRAM.  It's inevitable that all wrestlers are going to occasionally cycle out of the main storylines and not be featured on the show. Even the biggest of superstars in this industry experience that.  If I've learned anything from this time off that Bram has taken it is this: I don't want to see him take another break for a long, long time.

Ringside: Impact Wrestling Review - Jun 3, 2015

I thinks it's incredibly fitting we start this week's Ringside off talking about the segment that produced the image you see in our swanky new banner above. We began the show with EC3 holding a celebration after attaining the #1 position on the Impact Top 5 rankings. There was a barbershop quartet, women with giant "#1" signs, red, white & blue balloons falling from the ceiling and even a tease of Tyrus dancing to mark such a momentous occasion. Carter basked in his own glory before calling out World Champion Kurt Angle, who rained on Carter's parade by revealing that Option C was available to Rockstar Spud and that he can cash in the X Division title to get a shot at Angle's World Title next week at Destination X. A visibly annoyed Carter leaves minus a harmoniser who received an Angle slam to end what was a pretty fun opening segment.

TNA Wednesday Randomania - Jun 3, 2015

- When Ethan Carter III recently described a segment booked for tonight's Impact as the greatest segment in the history of pro wrestling, I admit, several scenarios played out in my head. Normally, I'd dismiss such a statement as hyperbole and, quite frankly, never give it a second thought. But this is EC3, one of wrestling's brightest young stars and someone who's shown a flair for the dramatic. He was also declared, this week, the #1 contender for the TNA world heavyweight championship, suddenly turning the aforementioned greatest segment into a celebration. So we've now established that TNA and EC3 are set to throw a celebration tonight on Impact to mark his status as the wrestler next in line to challenge for the world heavyweight championship.

The Good Girl Has Gone BAD

On August 16, 2012, Brooke Hogan came to the entrance ramp and made the announcement that she had officially signed a Knockouts referee to the roster, Taryn Terrell. When she first made her appearance you could tell just by looking at her that she was cheerful, beautiful, and the girl next door type, but little did we know that this blonde bombshell would cause quite the controversy right from the get go. In her debut as the Knockouts referee, Taryn was the official for a TNA Knockouts title match between champion at the time, Madison Rayne and her challenger, Brooke Tessmacher. As the match progressed with non-stop action and Taryn catching Madison several times trying to cheat to get the win we finally got a winner and Brooke Tessmacher became the new TNA Knockouts champion! As Taryn's refereeing career continued, she slowly began to piss off some of the Knockouts such as Madison Rayne and Gail Kim.

REMINDER: Impact Moves to Wednesday Nights on June 3rd!

A couple of weeks ago, TNA announced that Impact would be moving to Wednesday nights at 9/8c on Destination America, starting on June 3rd. TNA are advertising the following for their Wednesday night premiere on June 3rd: Ethan Carter III celebrates his #1 contender status for the TNA world heavyweight championship, Lashley vs Eric Young, The Wolves vs The Dirty Heels in Match #3 of their tag title series, Spud's decision on Option C, The Rising vs The BDC in a six-man tag team match, and the Dollhouse's Jade vs Brooke. It promises to be a fun night of wrestling so make sure you tune in.

An Open Letter to ROH Fans

It has been a little while since I have had the time to write a column.  Being super busy has prevented me from doing as much writing as I'd like because I literally did not have the time.  But I felt compelled enough to carve out some time to write an open letter to ROH fans today.  There is an important day coming up this Wednesday, June 3rd.  It is a big night for TNA.  It is also a big night for ROH.  So why not celebrate this night together and bury the hatchet?  I know ROH fans have talked a lot of smack about TNA and its fan base in the past.  TNA fans have not been innocent in this regard either and we totally own the fact that we have also had some blunt and critical things to say in return about ROH and their overall product.  The past is the past.  Those things will not necessarily be totally forgotten and they shouldn't be.  I'm not asking you to forget about those things that have happened up until this point between the two fan bases.  However, we at TNAMecca are extending our hand to you.  It's simple: Shake Our Hand.  We're asking you politely and respectfully.

Post-Impact Discussion for May 29, 2015

One of my favorite activities after watching Impact is searching for forums in which fans can talk about the show and share with one another their thoughts.  However, it's getting increasingly harder to find venues where TNA fans can safely express their opinions on Impact without having to deal with the trolling of the anti-TNA crowd or the smarks who insist on taking the fun out of pro wrestling.

For this reason, we felt it was important to make TNAMecca available to our readers and any TNA fans who would like to discuss the show after watching it.  You can now visit TNAMecca immediately following Impact to do exactly that in the comments section below each and every week.  So please feel free to share with us your thoughts on tonight's May Mayhem edition of Impact on Destination America from Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.  What did you think of the show?  What did you like or dislike?  Let us know.
