Post-Impact Discussion for Feb 27, 2015

One of my favorite activities after watching Impact is searching for forums in which fans can talk about the show and share with one another their thoughts.  However, it's getting increasingly harder to find venues where TNA fans can safely express their opinions on Impact without having to deal with the trolling of the anti-TNA crowd or the smarks who insist on taking the fun out of pro wrestling.

For this reason, we felt it was important to make TNAMecca available to our readers and any TNA fans who would like to discuss the show after watching it.  You can now visit TNAMecca immediately following Impact to do exactly that in the comments section below each and every week.  So please feel free to share with us your thoughts on tonight's episode of Impact on Destination America from the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England.  What did you think of the show?  What did you like or dislike?  Let us know.

Welcome to TNAMecca Presents CHAT!  Although we aren't an open forum where members can start their own threads, our sense of community spirit is what sets us apart from other wrestling sites so we thought it'd be fun to give our members the ability to dictate the discussion for one night a week.  Anything goes in CHAT but we do ask that most topics remain TNA-related. You can also discuss any rumors from any source regardless of how ludicrous they might sound.  However, the same etiquette rules that apply to our comments section in general also will apply here, including our policy on spoilers.

Ringside: Impact Wrestling Review - Feb 20, 2015

I've always been an optimistic person when it comes to TNA and their product.  Although, with an IMPACT like we saw this week, I'm not sure how most fans are not feeling optimistic about TNA's future.  The show flew by and came across as very engaging.  The crowd was large and energetic.  We kicked things off with a fast paced and enjoyable 3 on 3 match as Storm, Abyss and Manik found themselves on the losing end of things against Matt Hardy and The Wolves.  Personally, I'm still not sure if Manik is being booked to eventually leave The Revolution.  He definitely got some tough love post-match as his carcass had to be dragged out of the arena due to a Black Hole Slam punishment for being pinned.  I just hope that the Great Sanada gets some ring time soon because he is definitely the most underutilized member of the group right now.  The Wolves and Hardy showed great chemistry together during this fight.

TNA Friday Randomania - Feb 20, 2015

- It's been quite an eventful week and unfortunately, the biggest story of the week has been Samoa Joe's departure from TNA. I will admit, I was genuinely shocked when I read the news. I was under the assumption that the two sides had perhaps agreed to a new deal since his contract expired in December and he had been a member of the company's top heel faction. But I suppose the fact that his was not one of the names announced last month of wrestlers who had signed new deals should've been a red flag. Nobody knows the real reason why TNA and Samoa Joe ultimately parted ways after almost a decade so I won't speculate but I will say this, I don't begrudge either side their right to make the best possible decision for themselves and neither should you.  I understand that some look for someone to blame in times like these, and sadly many of the dirtsheets have tried their best to stir the pot by pointing the finger squarely at TNA, but this is simply a case in which the two sides could not agree to sign on the dotted line. It's business. And that's all this was.

TNA and Samoa Joe Part Ways

Samoa Joe and TNA Executive Vice President John Gaburick announced Joe's departure from the company this evening. I have to say I'm very surprised by this, as it really came out of nowhere. With the recent formation of the BDC, I never thought that Joe would decide now was the time to move on, however with it being clear that MVP is the leader of that faction, meaning he will be the one to be challenging for the World Title, Joe must have thought that his chances of a main event push in the near future were doubtful, and at almost 36 years old, realised he can't afford to wait much longer for his chance and decided to move on to try and get that opportunity somewhere else. It's a damn shame to see Joe leave, as creatively he's not been used to his full potential for several years, but regardless of that continued to deliver some fantastic matches in the Heavyweight, Tag & X Divisions. On behalf of everyone at TNAMecca, I'd like to thank Joe for all of his great contributions over the last 10 years, and wish him the very best as he moves on to the next chapter of his career.

Ringside: Impact Wrestling Review - Feb 13, 2015

For this edition of Impact we didn't have a big hook like we've seen in previous weeks, this week's show was simply the fallout from Lockdown & the first show on the UK tour. I don't think anyone really knew what to expect from the Lockdown Fallout, we were told there would be an update on Jeff Hardy's condition, and we expected some kind of reaction from the BDC after Lashley helped Team Angle last week. While there wasn't much to go on, the UK tour never fails to deliver, so anticipation as to what would go down this week was high.

TNA Friday Randomania - Feb 13, 2015

- This week's Impact, the first of six from the UK, will be interesting because it's been branded as the fallout from Lockdown but there was no indication, judging by last week's closing moments, of what that means. There wasn't a hook, if you will. I suppose Lashley's unexpected involvement in Lethal Lockdown applies but he's been feuding with the BDC for several weeks so it'll technically be more of the same.  That's not to say, however, that "more of the same" in this case is a bad thing. The feud between the BDC and Lashley, Kurt Angle, and others has been one of the best things on Impact since the night the Clan was born a few weeks ago. I think a big part of the story's success is the writers' ability to consistently keep the focus on the TNA world heavyweight championship and its affect on the relationships between enemies, allies, and even best friends.  I'm not sure what drama will ensue tonight but I'm quite certain that Lashley's world title belt will be, once again, the cause.

Things Are Looking Good

Since the last instalment, quite a lot of have things have happened in the world of TNA, and there is even more on the horizon. Now I can't cover everything, but there are a few things I'd like to discuss, so like last time I'm going to cover a number of topics over the course of this column and share my views on a few things that have happened, that are going to happen and may potentially come to fruition. So now the small starter is out of the way, let's get to the main course.

Back to the U.K.? OK!

I've said it so many times, it's getting silly at this point: The annual U.K. Tour is my favorite thing that TNA does all year, and I truly mean that.  The anticipation for this 2015 version seems to have a distinct freshness and an increased excitement level to it.  Part of that overall feeling emanates from TNA releasing the names online of 1 returning TNA wrestler and 1 debuting TNA wrestler.  Mickie James coming back to TNA is going to be a very intriguing and compelling portion of IMPACT.  It's an obvious and logical assumption to link her to her real-life husband, Magnus, as their baby was brought up recently on TNA's flagship show before Bram bashed Daddy's head in with a pool cue ball.  I haven't read any spoilers, but this could get very, very interesting moving forward with this storyline.

Ringside: Impact Wrestling Review - Feb 6, 2015

Going into this week's Lockdown, I knew that I'd most likely have to judge this show strictly by the quality of its matches. Unlike a regular episode of Impact, I did not expect much storyline progression or any of the weekly bells and whistles TNA tinkers with. So the question remains, did the matches on Lockdown deliver?

TNA Friday Randomania - Feb 6, 2015

- This week, I'd like to begin with tonight's Lockdown, a show that, up until this year, was a PPV. In fact, it had been one of TNA's top PPVs of the year so the fact that the company chose to air the show for free, this year, on Destination America seems like an odd decision. I'm not so sure that it is, however, simply because I feel like Lockdown lost a bit of its luster in recent years. I'm not quite sure why that is, although I have my theories, but TNA must believe that Lockdown is currently better suited as a special episode of Impact. And I agree with them.

Ringside: Impact Wrestling Review - Jan 30, 2015

It must sound like we consider everything that TNA does as gold to the casual reader.  The loyal and objective TNAMecca readers know that's not the case.  Most level-headed wrestling fans have to admit that the TNA product is HOT.  It's undeniable unless you are completely jaded (like Steven Tyler sang about) or a complete TNA-hater or are simply part of a vocal minority (which is totally fine and acceptable).  The majority of pro-wrestling fans agree that TNA is on fire right now with a VERY bright immediate future going into the U.K. IMPACTs.  First things first, this lead-in episode for Lockdown provided another quality show that I completely sank my teeth into.  It was an absolute buffet of delicious storylines and superb professional wrestling.  It is a superior product right now.  I stand by that statement.  This is the hottest and best-quality wrestling product on the planet RIGHT NOW.  They have the attention of the wrestling world and the next few months are going to be a crazy, crazy ride.  Meanwhile, back in the Manhattan Center...

3... 2... 1... Impact!

Breaking the 4th Wall: This column will not contain my usual dialogue, so I do apologize for those who enjoyed the fan-fiction. I assure you that it shall return for my next! I have been going through some personal turmoil; I shall not bore you with the details. Nonetheless, Impact had an explosive return, establishing who the heels are and who the faces will be to oppose them in the months to come. Hard-hitting, fast-paced, made for adult, wrestling action painted our televisions screens, and was presented with an old-school feel that had us reminiscing about a time when wrestling truly mattered. Well, it matters once again.
