Walking Through the TNA Hall of Fame

Well folks, Slammiversary is in the books and while there are a lot of things that we could discuss coming out of the show, here, I'd like to focus on the announcement of Team 3D being the latest inductee's into the TNA Hall of Fame. While most fans would agree that 3D deserves the honor, there seems to be a major complaint when it comes to the lack of "TNA originals" in the Hall. Fans have been dropping names like AJ Styles and Jeff Jarrett as past performers that should've gone into TNA's Hall of Fame before any of the other inductee's. It does seem painfully obvious that Styles, Jarrett and others would be ideal choices, so why aren't they in? Only the TNA brass can really answer that question, but I will attempt to find the method in TNA's madness when it comes to the HOF. There are many factors that I feel some are over looking when it comes to the selection process. So let's crack open the cage and take a walk down through the hall of fame and analyze the who, what, where's and why's of TNA's Hall of Fame.

Saturday Night Chat - Jun 28, 2014

Welcome to Saturday Night Chat on TNAMecca!  Although we aren't an open forum where members can start their own threads, our sense of community spirit is what sets us apart from other wrestling sites so we thought it'd be fun to give our members the ability to dictate the discussion for one night a week.  Anything goes in Saturday Night Chat but we do ask that all topics remain TNA-related and stay on topic. You can also discuss any rumors from any source regardless of how ludicrous they might sound.  However, the same etiquette rules that apply to our comments section in general also will apply here, including our policy on spoilers.

Behind The Curtain VI: Submit Your Questions Now!

The next edition of Behind The Curtain is coming in the next few weeks, so once again its time for you to ask your questions and have them answered in Volume VI. There is a lot to discuss right now in the World of TNA, including Lashley's Title win, the return of the 6-Sided ring, Bound For Glory in Japan, The direction of the TNA product and much more. I would like to note that questions regarding spoilers from the Bethlehem, PA or NYC tapings will not be answered, and out of respect for our spoiler-free comments policy, I ask you refrain from asking questions that include spoilers. Whether you want a question answered, or would simply like to ask a question to start a discussion within the TNAMecca community, this is the place to do it, so submit your questions now and I'll answer them in Volume VI.

TNA Tapings: Back to the Future!

With all of the recent IMPACT TV tapings in Bethlehem and New York City, it would be easy to get confused about what week we're actually watching or even what show is exactly being talked about online.  So much has taken place in the last week or so with BFG being announced for Tokyo, Japan in October, the six sided ring returning, The Hardy Boyz reuniting, MVP losing his power, the Great Muta wrestling for TNA, and on and on.  It's hard to keep it all straight.  However, given the constraints of TNA needing to tape so many multiple-taping shows, the company has done a marvelous job in creating buzz and awareness for the product while continuing to deliver high-quality episodes every week for its fans.  Since Slammiversary, this company has been on a MAJOR hot streak and it's only going to get better as time goes on.  But that's the thing.....what time are we actually talking about here? GREAT SCOTT!!! It feels like we're going BACK TO THE FUTURE!

Post-IMPACT Discussion for Jun 26, 2014

One of my favorite activities after watching Impact is searching for forums in which fans can talk about the show and share with one another their thoughts.  However, it's getting increasingly harder to find venues where TNA fans can safely express their opinions on Impact without having to deal with the trolling of the anti-TNA crowd or the smarks who insist on taking the fun out of pro wrestling.

For this reason, we felt it was important to make TNAMecca available to our readers and any TNA fans who would like to discuss the show after watching it.  You can now visit TNAMecca immediately following Impact to do exactly that in the comments section below each and every week.  So please feel free to share with us your thoughts on tonight's episode from Bethlehem, PA.  What did you think of the show?  What did you like or dislike?  Let us know.

TNA Thursday Randomania - Jun 26, 2014

- I'd like to apologize for posting this week's Randomania a bit late but as many of you know, I attended last night's Impact tapings at the Grand Ballroom.  In any case, I'll begin this week with my first live TNA experience last night that included both a meet & greet and live show.  I had heard great things about TNA's meet & greet so being that it was my first time experiencing it, I decided that I would try it out.  It was pricey at $350 for two tickets but I was sure that it'd be well worth it.  Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. Firstly, the entire process lasted maybe 15-20 minutes.  There were 20 VIP tickets available but I'd say that about 15 of them were at the event.  As a group, we were escorted into a tiny room.  A few moments later, Jeff Hardy and the Beautiful People arrived, took a seat, and proceeded to sign autographs.  It was the most uneventful autograph signing that I have ever been to.  I even commented at some point that it felt like we were all at a funeral.  One by one, we approached the TNA stars, they signed our merch and we returned to our spots in the confined space.  Immediately after, we were told we could take photos with the wrestlers. However, for some reason, when it was my turn for a photo op, I was told that the photo session was over and Hardy, Angelina Love, and Velvet Sky all left the meet & greet.  So that's basically what a VIP ticket for a TNA event got me.  Suffice it to say, I was left rather unimpressed.

Bound for Glory to Take Place in Japan!

During today's press conference, Dixie Carter and the Great Muta announced that this year's Bound for Glory will take place in Tokyo, Japan on Sunday, October 12th.  This is monumental!  I'm shocked that TNA will be able to pull this off due to several logistical issues, one of them being the time difference, but it looks like it will work out after all.  I'm genuinely shocked by this news.

First Look: Six-Sided Ring at Tonight's NYC Tapings

Dixie Carter posted a photo of the six-sided ring on her official Twitter account. It's interesting to see the Impact Wrestling colors on the new ring, although I would have preferred black ropes.

The Great Muta to Wrestle at Tonight's NYC Tapings

Bob Ryder tweeted this morning that the Great Muta will wrestle in a match at tonight's tapings. We had known that he'd be appearing but there was no mention of whether or not he'd work a match. This is a nice treat for the fans in attendance and for those watching at home when this episodes airs on SpikeTV.

OFFICIAL: The Votes Are In! The Six-Sided Ring is Back!

TNA announced today that the six-sided ring has been officially chosen by the majority of TNA fans via vote and will now permanently replace the traditional four-sided ring, starting at the Impact tapings in NYC on June 25th.  I voted for six sides so I'm quite happy with the result.  One could argue that the six-sided ring was as much a part of TNA's identity as any concept and should never have been changed by the Hogan/Bischoff regime.  In any case, the six-sided ring is back and along with it the amazing feeling of seeing the ring for the first time all over again.

#REWIND365: 02 - 22 June 2014

Welcome to #REWIND365 Where the Reaction Never Ends, a selective look at the recent offerings from #IMPACT365.  First off, apologies that this article missed its usual fortnightly slot last Monday.  Aside from a less than spectacular number of #IMPACT365 exclusives during the two week window, I decided to remove myself from any media that potentially contained spoilers ahead of Slammiversary airing in the UK.  Glad to say that it worked, and Slammiversary was all the better for it!

So instead, #REWIND365 will be giving a recap of some of the best supporting videos uploaded hot off the heels of one of TNA's best PPVs in a long, long time.

List of Wrestlers to Appear at Destination X!

TNA announced tonight that Homicide, Brian Cage, and Low Ki will return for the company's X Division themed event, Destination X, to be taped on June 26th at the Grand Ballroom in New York City. These are the first of many names that TNA will hopefully announce in the next few days for the event in which the X Division champion, currently Sanada, will earn an opportunity to challenge for the TNA world heavyweight championship.  Make sure you keep checking in for updates.

Ringside: Impact Wrestling Review - Jun 19, 2014

Rhino to Return to TNA!

TNA announced today that Tommy Dreamer and Rhino will be appearing at the impact tapings in New York City. The return of Rhino is surprising as it's been several years since he left TNA. However, during a recent House of Hardcore show, Rhino sided with TNA so that could've been a sign that he was soon returning to the company. It's good to see Rhino back as he's one of the few former ECW wrestlers who can still work a match against the younger TNA stars.  TNA did not specify if this will be a short stint or part of a longer stay.  TNA also announced that Tommy Dreamer will be making an appearance at the NYC tapings as well.

Jeff Hardy to Challenge Lashley at NYC Tapings!

TNA announced this afternoon that Bobby Lashley will defend his TNA world heavyweight championship against Jeff Hardy at the Impact tapings on June 25th in New York City.  This is interesting in the sense that it looks like Hardy will compete as himself and not his alter-ego Willow.  This is also a noteworthy main event that should attract more fans to the venue and on television.  Click here to read the full press release.

TNA Thursday Randomania - Jun 19, 2014

- Before I begin this week, I shared with you some thoughts on the Slammiversary PPV in a POV on Monday and unfortunately some of you might've missed it due to all the TNA news recently.  It isn't a review per se but simply my thoughts on the show overall and its impact on the company going forward. In any case, if you haven't checked it out, make sure you do as I think it's important that TNA is given the credit they deserve for producing a really good show last Sunday.

Fans to Decide Which Ring TNA Uses Going Forward!

ImpactWrestling.com has announced that the fans will decide which ring TNA uses going forward, either the traditional 4-sided ring or the 6-sided ring. Voting is open now at this link here and will close at Midnight this Thursday, with the winning ring being announced Friday. In the case of a change in ring, it will take effect at the June 25th NYC TV taping, and will be used going forward. This is huge, simply for the fact that it will be decided by us, the fans. Some would love the return of the 6-sided ring, others prefer 4-sides, and others are indifferent, regardless of your stance, this is your opportunity for your voice to be heard and decide whether you want 4 sides or 6 sides, get voting NOW!

Pick 'em League: Post Slammiversary Standings

This past Sunday we saw a great Slammiversary PPV offer up 21 points for Pick 'em League members to capture, and 53 members of the league gave it their best shot. Several matches on the show were tough to call, making it an interesting event where points are concerned, going in we had 3 people tied for 1st place on 27 points, and this event looked to shake that up, let's see how the league picked Slammiversary.

The Hardys to Reunite at NYC Tapings!

TNA announced this afternoon that Matt Hardy will be returning to TNA for the Impact tapings in New York City and will be reuniting with his brother Jeff one more time. The Hardys are back! Well, this is an interesting turn of events and one that will certainly make the NYC shows quite newsworthy if you also consider the fact that Team 3D could be reuniting as well for one final match. Click here to read the full press release by TNA.

Dixie Carter Invites Tommy Dreamer to Impact on Thursday!

TNA President Dixie Carter has invited Tommy Dreamer to Impact this Thursday in order to come face to face with the Founder of House of Hardcore. Apparently, Dixie has taken exception to comments Dreamer made about her at a recent HOH show and she has dared him to make those same comments to her face on Impact. This is an interesting situation that adds another element to all the excitement that TNA fans are feeling after a very good Slammiversary event.

UPDATE: TNA announced that Tommy Dreamer has accepted Dixie Carter's invitation and will appear on Impact this week to confront the TNA President.  The company also announced that TNA Knockout Taryn Terrell will make her much-anticipated return to TNA on this week's Impact.  Terrell had been out on maternity leave since last Summer.

Slammiversary XII: Just What the Doctor Ordered

A couple of weeks ago, I shared with you my frustrations about my lack of excitement for Slammiversary and how TNA seemingly dropped the ball on one of their biggest events of the year.  As we got closer to the show, however, my excitement level began to rise, particularly due to a really good go-home show and the news that the PPV's main event had been changed.  I can now report, the day after the PPV, that Slammiversary delivered in a way that it not only exceeded my expectations but it reassured me that TNA as a brand is still alive and well.

Pick 'em League: Slammiversary Polls Are Now Closed!

This Sunday will be the third event of the Pick 'em League's second season, and with a loaded card, Slammiversary looks to be a pivotal event in the season. With 7 matches announced for the show, a total of 21 points hang in the balance, and none of them are easy to call. Some of the matches include Bully Ray facing EC3 in a Texas Death Match, Mr Anderson vs James Storm, and two matches involving Team MVP vs Team TNA with Austin Aries squaring off with Kenny King and Samoa Joe battling Bobby Lashley, with the winners of those two matches facing Eric Young for the World Title in a Steel Cage later in the night.

The polls are now open and will close this Sunday at 7PM EST. To make your picks, simply fill out the form below and submit it before the deadline. You can check if you're registered by looking at the leaderboard underneath the form, if you see your name highlighted in Green, it means your picks have been received. Please note, this is a manual process and it may take some time from submitting your picks for your name to be highlighted. Good luck to everyone taking part, its going to be interesting to see if anyone can achieve a clean sweep with their picks for what should be a very fun event.

MVP Pulled from Slammiversary! Replacements Announced!

John Gaburick has officially announced that MVP has suffered a torn meniscus and will not be wrestling at Slammiverary this Sunday night. We had been anticipating an announcement and I had mentioned in my Randomania yesterday that an announcement should come following last night's Impact. I wanted to see Eric Young vs MVP but this now makes the world title match even more interesting. Gaburick also announced that a replacement will be announced today. How will TNA proceed and who will be MVP's replacement? More to come...

UPDATE: MVP has announced that the following matches are now #1 contenders matches with the winner of each match advancing to the main event to face Eric Young in a triple-threat steel cage match: Austin Aries vs Kenny King and Bobby Lashley vs Samoa Joe.  This is actually a very good decision on TNA's part as it makes the two matches more than simply grudge matches and it adds another layer to the drama that will be the main event.  Nicely done.

TNA Thursday Randomania - Jun 12, 2014

- I can't emphasize enough how important this week is for TNA and I'm not referring to tonight's episode of Impact, which is essentially a lame duck episode.  As a go-home show for Sunday's Slammiversary PPV, it will serve no purpose other than to, once again, say farewell to the dreadful Impact Zone.  What I'm referring to, however, is Slammiversary, the show that will essentially kick off TNA's Summer of programming.  This Sunday's PPV is not at all a culmination of things but the genesis of things to come.  I mentioned in a recent Randomania column that TNA acted like a company which had been biding their time the last few weeks in order to save the good stuff for Slammiversary and the tapings in New York City.  Well, Slammiversary is almost here.  And it's time for TNA, which had over a month to prepare for this show, to produce a fitting anniversary show that's worthy of its twelve year history.  Anything else would be a missed opportunity, in my opinion.

TNA announces X Division Title Match for Slammiversary!

According to TNA, X Division champion Sanada will be defending his title in a six-man ladder match at Slammiversary against Davey Richards, Eddie Edwards, Tigre Uno, Manik, and Crazzy Steve.  This is very interesting as we had been wondering if there would be an X Division match on the card.  Although I'm very happy about this announcement, I'm a little puzzled by the Wolves' involvement in this match.  Davey Richards had tweeted the other day that the Wolves would be defending their tag titles at Slammiversary yet now we hear that they're in the X Division title match.  It's like I mentioned in my Randomania last week, the Slammiversary line-up seems like it's in flux, which keeps things interesting.

Bram: Bringing Method to the Magnus?

When Magnus pitched his tent in Dixie Land and snatched the World Title from the reach of Jeff Hardy at Final Resolution, I had high hopes for his tenure as Champion.  Magnus appeared to be the embodiment of TNA's new youth movement, a guy with all the tools needed to spearhead and usher in this fresh new direction.

Although the Reign of Magnus looked good on paper, as a viewer I felt that Magnus was only a bit-player in the paper champion storyline when he should have been the hood ornament.

It's Time for a Change in the Knockouts Division

For those of you that read our Ringside review of Impact, you will have noticed that over the last month or so I haven't reviewed any Knockouts segments or matches, and it's simply because I have absolutely zero interest in the division right now. Unfortunately for me there is nothing going in TNA's women's division that is interesting or enjoyable, and I've been seeing recently that I'm not alone, which brings me to this conclusion, it's time for TNA to do to the Women's roster what they did to the men's, and that's hit the reset button.

Kurt Angle to Announce This Year's Hall of Fame Inductee!

Dixie Carter announced this evening that Kurt Angle will be officially announcing the next inductee of the TNA Hall of Fame at Slammiversary this Sunday. I think this is fitting since he was last year's Hall of Fame inductee. I can't remember if Sting had announced Kurt Angle's induction in 2013 but I think it's a good idea for TNA to plan going forward. It's also smart of TNA to find ways of utilizing Angle while he's out due to knee surgery. From what I understand, Kurt Angle will also be part of the meet and greet and other weekend festivities.

Sneaky Slammiversary

The consensus amongst most pro-wrestling fans, in regards to Slammiversary, has been that TNA has had a poor build.  While I actually agree with that assessment, I can't say that I'm soured on the current product and direction overall.  There are a lot of things to look forward to and we are only now getting ready for the ultra-important June road shows.  I also agree that the Impact Zone has been a back-breaking element for TNA in recent months.  Even the most loyal of TNA fans have grown absolutely fatigued by watching IMPACT episodes from the IZ.  I understand why they went back there and the concept of reloading and recouping company finances.  Enough is enough though.  Good riddance.  The IZ has been like a vindictive and bitchy ex, and I hope I never see you ever again.  And if I do, it needs to be just a fling for the holidays.  If I have to see another crowd sitting on their hands and not paying attention again in that tourist trap, I'm going to puke on my own shoes.  (So I basically love the effect that the Impact Zone has had on the show, as you can tell.)

The Wolves to Defend Tag Titles at Slammiversary!

On the surface, this might not sound like news but for so many TNA fans who had been wondering for days if the Wolves would be wrestling on the PPV, let alone defending their titles, this is fantastic news.  Well, TNA fans, Davey Richards has spoken...he and his partner Eddie Edwards will indeed be defending their tag titles at Slammiversary against a mystery opponent.  So...the question now remains, which team will challenge the TNA tag champions on Sunday, June 15th in Dallas, TX?

Is TNA Limping Into Slammiversary?

I'm typically a glass-half full kind of guy but even I can't help but notice right now that TNA is limping into their second biggest show of the year.  Regrettably, Slammiversary is less than two weeks away and I'm not overly excited about the show.  In fact, I'd say I'm closer to feeling indifferent about it and quite frankly, TNA should be very concerned that a fan like me feels this way.  Those who know me know that I usually look for the positives but right now, I'll be honest, I'm looking at Slammiversary and I can't say that I see many.

Behind The Curtain: Q&A Volume V

Hello everyone and welcome to Volume V of the Behind The Curtain Q&A Series. In this instalment we cover 2 scenario's for King Of The Mountain to return at Slammiversary, whether or not smarks hijack the NYC shows, thoughts on Kenny King, Tag Team,s Knockouts and X Division wrestler's TNA could pick up and much more. Thanks to those who submitted questions, taking care of that half of the Q&A, so now I'll do my bit and provide the answers.

Post-IMPACT Discussion for Jun 5, 2014

One of my favorite activities after watching Impact is searching for forums in which fans can talk about the show and share with one another their thoughts.  However, it's getting increasingly harder to find venues where TNA fans can safely express their opinions on Impact without having to deal with the trolling of the anti-TNA crowd or the smarks who insist on taking the fun out of pro wrestling.

TNA Thursday Randomania - Jun 5, 2014

- This week, I'd like to begin with the lack of matches announced for the Slammiversary PPV, which is less than two weeks away.  There have been two matches announced - Eric Young vs MVP for the TNA world title and Bully Ray vs Ethan Carter III.  We have since learned that the world title match might be changed due to MVP's apparent injury but I'll get to that in a moment.  A third match was sort of announced last week when we learned that the Von Erichs will wrestle at Slammiversary against an undisclosed opponent.  So as it stands now, this PPV is in a state of flux.  One week prior to the go-home show, there's technically no concrete line-up for the show nor we do know if the main event will go on as planned.  With all that said, I'm finding this rather exciting.  Oftentimes, the build of a PPV can be predictable and a bit mundane.  But here, we have a situation where fans are forced to put together the pieces of the puzzle.  Those pieces are the wrestlers and that puzzle is the Slammiversary line-up.  Other than Bully Ray and EC3, every other wrestler on the Impact Wrestling roster is without a definite opponent at this moment.  So tonight's show will be interesting in the sense that we should begin to get some idea of what the card on June 15th will look like.

TNA's Rebuild is About to Have a Growth Spurt

Since I am a sports fan, I can't help myself from making the natural comparison between what TNA is currently experiencing at the moment and a rebuilding NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL or major league football (soccer for us naive Americans) team.  I mean it just makes sense.  Since TNA has a similar number of roster members in relation to the number of NFL players you'd actually see get into a regular season game, let's go that route.  It also helps that I played the game (not to go all Uncle Rico on you) and understand American Football very well.  Don't confuse me for some dumb ex-jock that has brain damage (which I probably do actually) and can't string together a few sentences.  I think my past writing speaks for itself.  I still have a few brain cells left and I intend to use them until I have absolutely nothing left to say.  Maybe when that day comes there will be a segment of people out there that will secretly revel in my departure as I slink back into the shadows.  However, today is not that day.

Destination X to Take Place June 26th in New York City!

Dixie Carter tweeted the following, announcing that Destination X will take place at the June 26th Impact taping in New York City:

It was rumoured that Destination X would take place at one of the three June NYC shows, and now it's official. Like The Great Muta appearance on the June 25th show, this now gives the June 26th show its own major hook. The press release states that the show will air as a special Impact during the Summer, probably late July. It was also announced that fans can make suggestions for which past, present or future X Division stars they want to see on the show by using the hashtag #MyDestinationX. Unless they throw a big curveball, it looks like my theory was right. Sanada will be the one to cash in the X Division title for a World Title shot and The Great Muta will show up before Destination X to endorse him. This makes the tapings even more special, and promises to provide the NYC crowd with a great show filled with great wrestling.

#REWIND365: 19 May - 01 Jun 2014

Welcome to #REWIND365 Where the Reaction Never Ends, a selective look at the fortnight's offerings from #IMPACT365.  There is chaos at the top of the ladder as the past begins to catch up with MVP ahead of Slammiversary.  The Wolves, Austin Aries and Samoa Joe have all entered the fray looking to settle scores, along with a returning Dixie Carter offering an olive branch to her Head of Wrestling Operations.

#REWIND365 has been keeping tabs on all original uploads to #IMPACT365, and provides you a pick of some of the best in case you missed them.
