The Great Muta to Compete at Lockdown PPV!

TNA announced today that the Great Muta will wrestle at the Lockdown PPV on Sunday, March 9th in Miami Florida. The Great Muta will be part of a six-man tag match with Seiya Sanada and Tigre Uno against the team of Bad Influence and Chris Sabin. We knew that the Japanese legend would appear at Lockdown is some form but this is best case scenario, in my opinion. It should be a really fun match that also includes the official debut of Tigre Uno (minus his Xplosion appearances).  Click here to read the full press release.

The Curious Case of Samuel Shaw

Samuel Shaw has been one of the most talked about characters in TNA recently. Anytime the guy is on screen, Twitter goes nuts with tweets about his exploits. Some love them, some hate them, but either way Samuel Shaw is getting everyone's attention. He may, in fact be the most polarizing figure in TNA right now. Some who appreciate the effort by TNA to do something different are praising the segments he is in, while others poke holes in them pointing out the obvious lack of logic that his story tends to follow. I for one have been glued to the screen anytime Samuel makes an appearance, so much so, that I have decided to turn the cage into a makeshift private eye office, put on my detective cap and look into the Curious Case of Samuel Shaw. I plan to look at this case from all angles, what works, what doesn't and what possibilities Samuel may have in TNA Wrestling.

Post-IMPACT Discussion for Feb 27, 2014

One of my favorite activities after watching Impact is searching for forums in which fans can talk about the show and share with one another their thoughts.  However, it's getting increasingly harder to find venues where TNA fans can safely express their opinions on Impact without having to deal with the trolling of the anti-TNA crowd or the smarks who insist on taking the fun out of pro wrestling.

For this reason, we felt it was important to make TNAMecca available to its readers and any TNA fans who would like to discuss the show after watching it.  You can now visit TNAMecca immediately following Impact to do exactly that in the comments section below each and every week.  So please feel free to share with us your thoughts on tonight's Impact from London.  What did you think of the show?  What did you like or dislike?  Let us know.

EXCLUSIVE: Angelina Love to Return to TNA

A source, with knowledge of the situation, has informed TNAMecca that Angelina Love will return to TNA at some point.  The company reportedly had reached out to the former member of the Beautiful People to appear at last year's Knockouts-themed One Night Only, but Love declined.  But it appears that she's had a change of heart.  In my opinion, this is good news as I've been clamoring for a Beautiful People reunion for a long time so hopefully, this is the plan upon her return.

TNA Thursday Randomania - Feb 27, 2014

- This week, I'd like to focus on the Wolves capturing the TNA tag titles by defeating the BroMans at a live event in Morgantown, WV last Sunday night.  Typically, I like to look at things logically, which is something I do in all aspects of my life at times to the detriment of my personal relationships, so I understand why TNA made this decision.  I suspect that they wanted the Wolves to represent them on a PPV that will air live in Japan, a country in which the company would like to grow their fanbase.  From a business standpoint, I completely understand their motives.  But the question remains, how do I feel about it as a fan?

The Inevitable Return to the Impact Zone

Look, I don't want to be a downer, and that is totally not the purpose of this POV post.  I have this bad habit of always thinking ahead though.  It gets me in trouble sometimes, but sometimes it's also very helpful and beneficial.  Facts are facts, and we have to face them.  Starting with the first IMPACT post-LockDown, TNA is going to be shooting at least 3 months worth of IMPACT episodes, 4 One Night Only PPV's and the Sacrifice PPV in the IMPACT Zone.  Holy cheese doodles Batman.  I'm trying to not view it as a nightmarish return to Universal Studios-Orlando but it's starting to sink in a bit.......and it is kind of deflating, I can't lie.  I know why it's happening and I accept it, but it doesn't mean I have to like it and do a dance about it.

EXCLUSIVE: Knux to Return to TNA Soon!

A source, with knowledge of the situation, has informed TNAMecca that Knux will be returning to TNA soon and he will be bringing with him a female valet.  Knux will apparently be given a slightly new gimmick that consists of a country theme/biker dude with a sexy valet who's often seen wearing Daisy Dukes.  Although our source told us that the valet has been signed, her identity is unknown at this time.  However, we were told that Knux's valet is a new signing, not a current Knockout.  If and when we learn the identity of the new Knockout, we will be sure to bring it to you.

UPDATE: We've been getting quite a few questions regarding the new Knockout so I thought I'd clarify...we have seen several photos of her, many of which are with Knux, and to our knowledge, she is a new face. She is not Santana Garrett, Shanna, Mia Yim, Jessica James, Taeler Hendrix or any female wrestler who's been mentioned in rumors the last several weeks.  As soon as we find out her name, we will be sure to share it with you.

#REWIND365: 10-23 Feb 2014

Welcome to #REWIND365 Where the Reaction Never Ends, a selective look at the fortnight's offerings from #IMPACT365.  As TNA continues its UK tour with two weeks in Manchester, it is really becoming apparent just how much work TNA creative put into not only creating meaningful shows in the week they were filming in the UK but also thinking ahead and setting up the building blocks for what should be a great Lockdown PPV.  It has been a while, but TNA has again been using #IMPACT365 to its full potential, resulting in a World Title showdown with a PPV main event feel to it.

Stuck trying to download some old WCW PPVs from this Network everyone is talking about?  No problem, take your mind off it with a look at this pick of videos FREE from #IMPACT365.

Here's to The Icon!

I have to admit, when WCW was around I was never a big Sting fan. Mostly, I thought he was kind of lame. I didn't care for the bright yellow face paint or his neon tights. While I thought the look of the "Crow Sting" was cool, I never saw what the attraction was, he just wasn't exciting to me. When he popped up in TNA a couple of times during the weekly pay per view days I wasn't surprised or all that interested really and when he was officially signed to TNA in 2006, I understood why, but was actually more pumped that Christian Cage had jumped ship. It wasn't until I watched him in TNA that I became a big fan of his. His matches, his promos and his presence always had me glued to the screen. Even until recently, I have found myself enjoying Sting's work more and more, he had became one of my favorite performers to watch during his run in TNA. Then on Genesis part two, Sting lost a "loser leaves" match to Magnus. Now, this doesn't really mean anything in the world of wrestling and I thought "AHH he'll be back by Lockdown." However, judging by Mike Tenay's tone during the voice over the following week and the recent rumors of him signing with WWE, it appears Sting is gone for good. So here, I'd like to give the Icon his due.

The Wolves Win TNA Tag Titles!

Tonight, the Wolves defeated the BroMans at the TNA house show in Morgantown, WV to become the new TNA tag team champions.  This is a shocking turn of events. I'm not sure how I feel that the Wolves won the tag titles at a house show but I think this was done in order to have the Wolves defend the TNA tag titles in Japan at the One Night Only PPV against Wrestle-1 on March 2nd.  In any case, this is fantastic news as the tag titles had been a bit stagnant in recent months although the BroMans have been part of the top current storyline.  A change was certainly needed.

Saturday Night Chat - Feb 22, 2014

Welcome to Saturday Night Chat on TNAMecca!  Although we aren't an open forum where members can start their own threads, our sense of community spirit is what sets us apart from other wrestling sites so we thought it'd be fun to give our members the ability to dictate the discussion for one night a week.  Anything goes in Saturday Night Chat but we do ask that all topics remain TNA-related and stay on topic. You can also discuss any rumors from any source regardless of how ludicrous they might sound.  However, the same etiquette rules that apply to our comments section in general also will apply here, including our policy on spoilers.

NOTE: Starting next week, Saturday Night Chat will move to a new timeslot.  We have quite a few readers in the UK and other parts of the world so we will be moving up the chat to 4:00 PM EST in order to allow our international fans the chance to participate without disrupting the chat for our US readers.  Thank you in advance for your understanding.

The Loyalty of TNA Fans

It's safe to say that TNA has some of the most loyal fans that exist.  Not just in the realm of pro-wrestling or sports, but even in comparison to all forms of entertainment.  In the U.S., it's true that we are a fairly niche group of supporters (still well over a million however) but I find it redundant when I see some of the haters on social media using something like the "reported" TNA house show attendance as the only indicator of how many TNA fans exist out there.  They ignore the amazing U.K. crowds that have been displayed on SPIKE TV recently and instead wait with baited breath (and slobber dripping from their mouths) to tweet about a house show in DeKalb, Illinois.  Do they not realize that TNA is a growing company that hasn't even reached its 12th year of existence yet?  Do they realize how pathetic it is to troll a pro-wrestling company that they claim to not even like?  Do they realize how big of a juggernaut the WWE is in comparison and that it's a completely unfair correlation?  It's a puzzling phenomena to me that so many people out there are obsessed with seeing IMPACT Wrestling fail and die off.  That being said, I don't want to focus on all the foolish and negative propaganda.  Instead I want to dissect the TNA loyalists like you and me.

Knockouts Title Match Announced for Lockdown!

TNA officially announced today that Madison Rayne will battle Gail Kim inside the steel cage for the Knockouts championship at Lockdown.  After last night's appetizer of a street fight, it's good to see that Madison and Gail will get a chance to pulverize each other inside the steel cage.  It's a match-up that was inevitable after Rayne defeated Kim to become the new Knockouts champion but I'm sure some will simply dismiss it as stale due to the condition of the Knockouts Division.  I won't, however, show such disrespect to these women, who bust their ass inside the ring to entertain us.

TNA Thursday Randomania - Feb 20, 2014

- Ever since I started watching TNA, almost a decade ago, I've always felt the company nurtured a family atmosphere, not only in the way they conducted business but in the way they went about attracting new fans.  For many years, TNA's motto was "one fan at a time" and it still is although you don't hear it as often.  Perhaps, like so many other things, Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff did away with it.  That sort of philosophy had always been part of the fabric that was old school TNA.  But little by little, since 2010, that feeling of family began to disintegrate.

EXCLUSIVE: TNA Interested in New Knockouts!

A source, with knowledge of the situation, has informed TNAMecca that TNA is interested in bringing in two new Knockouts.  We have been told that the two female wrestlers on TNA's radar are Mia Yim and Jessica James.  Yim, who wrestled in last year's Knockouts Knockdown One Night Only PPV, is an indie veteran with stints in Shine and Shimmer.  James, as recently as December of 2013, was part of Anarchy Championship Wrestling where she was also known as Lady Poison.  We will be sure to bring you more updates as soon as we get them.

Surprise Appearance by MVP at TNA House Show!

Last night at TNA's house show in Huntsville TX, MVP made a surprise appearance after the main event Steel Cage world title match, involving Magnus and Samoa Joe.  Magnus defeated Samoa Joe via interference by Ethan Carter III, which prompted MVP's music to hit.  MVP proceeded to attack EC3 while Joe took care of Magnus to the delight of the fans in the arena.  According to the fans in attendance, it was a nice little surprise set up by MVP and TNA.  After the show, MVP had drinks with his colleagues including the Wolves, as seen in the photo below, courtesy of @The305MVP

Prince Devitt NOT Signing with WWE?

For the last few weeks, we've been hearing that the WWE and Prince Devitt have been negotiating on a deal that would bring the New Japan Pro Wrestling star to the United States.  Recently, there were rumors that Devitt was hesitant about signing with the WWE, perhaps due to the WWE's insistence that he go to NXT for a little while but that's merely speculation on my part.  In any case, today, Richard Gray of Wrestling News World is reporting that Prince Devitt, at least for now, isn't interested in signing a deal with the WWE.  Could he be interested in some kind of deal with TNA perhaps?  One that allows him to work in Japan as well?  We shall see.

UPDATE: Garett Bischoff's TNA Status

In an interview for the Wrestling Mania show, Garett Bischoff claimed that although the writers have nothing for him bookings-wise, he is still under contract with TNA.  It'd be really easy for me to pile on to the typical Garett bashing that goes on in the internet wrestling community but I will not.  Although I'm not a fan of his work, I do feel that he has put in a lot of time and effort into training and it has shown in appearances last year.  For this reason, I think he at least deserves a chance to work in the industry that he loves so much.  With that said, Garett Bischoff is not ready for another run in TNA right now so I think it'd be best for everyone involved if the two sides parted ways.  Garett can then go about doing things the right way by working his way up to the big leagues again with some much needed experience in the indies.  I think it will do him good.  And maybe then, he will begin to earn the fans' respect and we can all finally put the nepotism stuff to rest.

NEW TALENT TRACKER: Santana Garrett and Ultimate Tiger

We've been monitoring the status of Santana Garrett and Ultimate Tiger (formerly AAA's Extreme Tiger) as new TNA signings for the last month or so.  We learned via the Shine Facebook account that Garrett was heading to TNA, although no word on whether or not she signed a contract.  In Tiger's case, he appeared on an episode of Xplosion, leading to speculation that he's coming to TNA.  Well, PWInsider reported today that Santana Garrett has indeed signed with TNA and that Ultimate Tiger's signing is close to being finalized.

Willow: Jeff Hardy's Alter Ego?

Last night, TNA fans watched the first, of hopefully many, vignettes of Willow (also known as Willow the Whisp) and were captivated by this fascinating new character.  For those who don't know, Willow the Whisp was one of many Jeff Hardy gimmicks from his pre-WWE days in OMEGA Wrestling.  One of the most asked questions since the vignette aired is will Willow be a Jeff Hardy alter ego or will he replace Hardy completely?  It'll be interesting to see how TNA introduce him.  We already know that, as per MVP's announcement, Jeff Hardy is due to return at Lockdown on March 9th but is he returning as himself?  We shall see but once again, TNA have piqued our interest us with another intriguing new character.

TNA Thursday Randomania - Feb 13, 2014

- I must give kudos to TNA for coming up with an interesting way to build the Lockdown PPV and in the process, make use of the dispute between Dixie Carter and MVP.  Two nights ago, MVP announced that Jeff Hardy will be returning to TNA on March 9th at Lockdown, presumably as a member of MVP's team in Lethal Lockdown.  Incidentally, this is not a spoiler but merely speculation on my part.  I imagine this year's Lethal Lockdown will be Team Dixie vs Team MVP.  If this indeed is the case, it's a very smart move by MVP to recruit Jeff Hardy.  It was expected that Hardy would return to TNA after the UK Tour and under the circumstances, I think it's a good decision to bring him back at Lockdown, especially if Kurt Angle misses the PPV due to injury.

Taz FTW!

Two weeks into the 2014 Maximum Impact UK Tour, and with Taz absent on some ambiguous assignment, commentary duties have fallen on the shoulders of Jeremy Borash and Mike Tenay.  Jeremy Borash has so far added a fresh level of excitement to the tour, echoing what many fans must be feeling watching TNA at home or in the UK audiences.  During this past fortnight, I have read some fans on Twitter calling for JB to take up commentary duties on a permanent basis, and I would support this.

However, if his appointment would be at the expense of replacing Taz at the commentary desk, I would have to disagree.

Is Samoa Joe Gonna Kill Magnus at Lockdown?

When Magnus first captured the TNA World Title during the episode of IMPACT (Final Resolution) which aired on Dec. 19th last year, I figured that he would be in for a long title reign of at least 6 months.  Fast-forward to February and now I'm not as sure that the duration of "The Reign of Magnus" is going to be as lengthy as many of us originally thought.  Now, don't get me wrong, I think Magnus has done a good job of getting over as a sneaky/cowardly heel champion.  Everything he has done as a champion has been with the aide of Team Dixie, and his intentional delusion of "how dominant" he has been has translated well so far.  However, the question to ponder is, "How much longer will this current direction with Magnus really work?".  The main event at LockDown has suddenly become significantly more unpredictable.

Memo to TNA: Say Goodbye to Kurt Angle!

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote a POV on Kurt Angle's ill-timed misstep after confessing, to the wrestling world, his desire to return to the WWE during a press tour in which his main priority had been to promote TNA in the UK.  At the time, I found his behavior unacceptable.  Unfortunately, Kurt Angle was at it again this week.  A fan asked Angle on Twitter if it's true that he has a desire to return to the WWE.  The TNA wrestler replied, "It's true."

#REWIND365: 27 Jan - 9 Feb 2014

Welcome to #REWIND365 Where the Reaction Never Ends, a selective look at the fortnight's offerings from #IMPACT365.  With the two fantastic Glasgow shows done and dusted, the 2014 Maximum Impact UK Tour is shaping up to be TNA's best to date.  It has been a busy two weeks for TNA, not least of all the reveal of the new investor.  If you've been left dumbstruck by the amount of storylines being crammed into Impact and not had time to check out #IMPACT365, fret not! I give to you my pick of the top three videos from the fortnight gone by.

Monsters Ball Top 5!

There have been some amazingly gruesome Monsters Ball matches over the years in TNA.  Those of us that appreciate the violence and brutality of a match like this have our personal favorites.  Abyss has felt the immense pain of the thumbtacks, barbed-wire, broken glass shards, tables, and other weapons (and even Janice on one occasion) time and time again.  Recently we have seen a resurgence of The Monster, much to my delight.  For the last couple of years Chris Parks has been mostly controlled by the personality of Joseph Park, but now it looks as if Abyss is gaining more and more control over Chris' mind and body again.  Newer IMPACT Wrestling fans may not know the history of Monsters Ball, while older fans may enjoy this brief review.  So I decided to give you the Monsters Ball Top 5!  Let me know if you agree or disagree with my choices and tell me what your top five are.  Enjoy!

WARNING: The column below contains spoilers for the ONO #OldSchool PPV and the 2nd Glasgow episode of IMPACT.

The Great Muta and Seiya Sanada to Wrestle at Lockdown?

TNA recently announced that the company would be taping a One Night Only PPV in Japan on March 2nd.  The PPV's theme will be TNA vs Wrestle-1 and it appears that all the TNA titles will be on the line.  In addition, it was announced that the Great Muta and Seiya Sanada will travel to the U.S. to appear at the Lockdown PPV.   Sanada is the young wrestler who competed against AJ Styles in Japan last November when the TNA world champion left the company with the belt.  TNA did not specify whether or not the two would wrestle on the PPV however.

UPDATE: Unfortunately, the information I was given could not be confirmed so I've decided to retract the reported rumor.  We pride ourselves on reporting only news or rumors from reliable sources and I sadly strayed from our policy due to my negligence and inability to do my due diligence, and for that, I apologize.  With that said, the info above is accurate.

The Return of Kenny King?

The earliest Kenny King could return is on March 9th for the Lockdown PPV so don't expect him any earlier, but this is great news as his return to TNA is long overdue. He's one of the most talented wrestlers on the TNA roster right now so I hope upon his return, the writers find something for him to do. A full-fledged feud with Austin Aries would be fun and something they teased last October. But overall, I'm happy to hear that Kenny King will be making his much anticipated return soon.

TNA Thursday Randomania - Feb 6, 2014

- This week, I'd like to begin with a topic that, in my opinion, hasn't gotten enough attention and that's the Wolves alluding to the fact that there are more members of their crew.  "They", Eddie Edwards called them.  It's unclear whether or not "they" are also investors, along with MVP, or simply wrestlers who have aligned with him.  It's important to note, however, that the manner in which the Wolves refer to them indicates to me that they have some authority.  How much?  It remains to be seen.

The Wolves Fit Right In

Those who have regularly visited TNAMecca know that we've monitored the status of the American Wolves since our launch in August.  Although it appeared, at times, that the WWE would sign them, there were always signs that TNA was never quite out of it.  I was never 100% convinced that they would sign with the WWE even though the thought amongst the internet wrestling community was that it was a done deal.  But something about it seemed off to me.

UPDATE: Kurt Angle Having Knee Surgery

We posted a report by Alex Barie of TNANews.com a couple of weeks ago that Kurt Angle would be having knee surgery after the Maximum Impact Tour, so this is simply an update.  It's really unfortunate that Kurt Angle feels the need to clarify that his surgery is not a major procedure simply because of all the ridiculous rumors that we've seen the last few days. From what I understand, recovery time for this sort of surgery is 6-8 weeks, which will make it nearly impossible for Angle to wrestle at Lockdown on March 9th but he should be able to return to action at some point in early April.

A British Point of View

While I am immensely proud to finally have a Brit as a World Heavyweight Champion in a major wrestling promotion, I am still to be convinced that Magnus was the right way for TNA to go. I have never been a massive fan of Magnus, although I do see his massive potential. He has a great look and is certainly improving on the mic. His "Reign of Magnus" catchphrase is delivered with more and more disdain for the crowd and this is one of the makings of a great heel champion. What lets him down for me are two things: the lack of a hard hitting move set or a good stiff finisher. For me, the driver he uses just isn't good enough as too many people have kicked out of it in the past. He needs to come up with a really vicious finisher which he hits after his top rope flying elbow (a move he delivers as well as the likes of Shawn Michaels ever did).

Pick 'em League Update!

Due to the fact that the match between the BroMans and Eric Young & Abyss ended in a No Decision, the match will not count in the TNAMecca Pick 'em League standings.  The referee for the match was knocked out after Abyss hit a Shock Treatment on him so a winner was not declared. We feel it's the best and most fair way to handle this matter.  Click here to see the current standings.
