Spoiler-FREE and Loving Every Minute of it!

What a show in Glasgow!  I knew TNA was going to make it a special night, and boy did they deliver!  Most definitely one of my favorite episodes of IMPACT in the last 2 plus years.  I have no complaints at all.  The "extra gravy" on those mashed potatoes was the brilliant crowd in Scotland at the beautiful new Hydro SSE Arena.  The educated attendance estimation in Glasgow from one of our new and valued TNAMecca commenters KennyA7X was reported to be in the 7,500 - 8,000 range.  That is coming from someone in attendance at the show, and we thank him for sharing that with us.  That is one of the beauties of having a nice community of TNA fans together here at TNAMecca; we get to hear from people that actually attended the show!  I personally love to hear the feedback from fans that have a wonderful time, and experience TNA like I have before IN PERSON.  Being there LIVE and feeling the electricity of the crowd is such a natural high.  However, the new experience that I just performed a science experiment with (under the direction of Eric Young btw) was watching the #ImpactGlasgow completely and 100% Spoiler-Free.  I had not done this before as the temptation of the spoilers always got me.  Now, I may never read IMPACT spoilers again after how much more pure and natural the show looked and felt to me.

Post-IMPACT Discussion for Jan 30, 2014

One of my favorite activities after watching Impact is searching for forums in which fans can talk about the show and share with one another their thoughts.  However, it's getting increasingly harder to find venues where TNA fans can safely express their opinions on Impact without having to deal with the trolling of the anti-TNA crowd or the smarks who insist on taking the fun out of pro wrestling.

For this reason, we felt it was important to make TNAMecca available to its readers and any TNA fans who would like to discuss the show after watching it.  You can now visit TNAMecca immediately following Impact to do exactly that in the comments section below each and every week.  So please feel free to share with us your thoughts on tonight's live Impact from Glasgow.  What did you think of the show?  What did you like or dislike?  Let us know.

TNA TRACKER: Updates on Today's Historical Event!

Today's going to be an eventful and most likely newsworthy day so I thought it'd be a good idea to keep track of everything in one tidy post for our readers.  Make sure you keep checking back throughout the day for any updates.  Please be informed, this will be a spoilers-free post as will TNAMecca today until 11:00PM EST so please refrain from posting any in the comments section.  Anything included in today's tracker is information that's been announced.  In addition, if you plan to hang out in the comments section, make sure you periodically refresh this page in order to see the latest updates to the tracker.

TNA Thursday Randomania - Jan 30, 2014

- For me, tonight's Impact is one of the most anticipated in recent history but not necessarily for the reason you might think.  Yes, the reveal of the new investor is reason enough to be excited about tonight's show but I'm equally as excited about the forthcoming Maximum Impact Tour, especially this year.  This is the third year, I believe, that TNA will tape Impact in the UK but what makes this particular tour interesting is the lack of older veterans on the roster.  Some might call it a lack of star power but I see it differently.  I see it as an opportunity for the younger talent to step up.  It's also an opportunity for us to take note of which wrestlers will shine in front of a large crowd and which, unfortunately, will not.

Prince Devitt Teases Coming to TNA

The following photo had been circulating on Twitter all day after Christopher Daniels posted it on his official account but it wasn't until Prince Devitt posted it with a interesting tweet that many TNA fans took notice.

I'm sure this is Prince Devitt simply having some fun with his buddies Christopher Daniels and Kazarian as he often uses Twitter to tease runs in TNA and WWE. But I thought it's noteworthy that one of the best talents in the world is acknowledging TNA and doing so in a way that's respectful, and for that, I applaud him. In any case, if TNA ever managed to convince Prince Devitt to appear on Impact, it'd be the best move they've ever made to date and that's not hyperbole.

Who is the Mystery Man?

Yesterday, TNAMecca member Jonathon and I had briefly discussed the mystery man who appears in the previews for this week's Impact Live in Glasgow and the Lockdown PPV on March 9th. In the preview for Impact, in particular, TNA hints at the mystery man possibly being the investor. I thought it'd be fun to let our readers chime in. Who do you think the mystery man?  Could the investor possibly be a wrestler?

RUMOR: Sting Signs with WWE?

Rob Feinstein, who co-founded Ring of Honor, reported today on his official Facebook account that Sting has signed with the WWE in the last 24 hours.  Until we hear from a reliable source, however, this is still just a rumor.  If true, I wish Sting the best in the WWE as he really had nothing more to accomplish in TNA.  The company is obviously going in another direction, one which involves a youth movement, so it's really best for everyone involved that he finish his career on the grand scale that is the WWE and hopefully Wrestlemania.  More to come...

Kurt Angle's Desire to Return to WWE

"My contract is up in September and I've left my options open. I'm very happy in TNA. Dixie Carter has treated me very well and always been there for me. But, I can't lie to myself anymore. I can't lie to TNA or WWE. Yeah, there is that desire to go back. I just don't know when. It could be this year. It could be next year. I don't know when. It's not a bad thing to stay in TNA at all. I just have some unfinished business in WWE. Whether it's this year or three years from now."

#REWIND365: 12-26 Jan 2014

Welcome to #REWIND365 Where the Reaction Never Ends, a selective look at the fortnight's offerings from #IMPACT365.  With the departure of several TNA veterans over the past few weeks, and the spotlight being focused on a more youthful roster, this year perhaps more than any other the Genesis PPVs have been relevant for TNA as they usher in a new era.  #REWIND365 has been keeping tabs on all the uploads during these exciting two weeks, and presents to you a selection of three that deserve a look in.

Santana Garrett to Sign with TNA?

Santana Garrett was wished good luck by Shine Wrestling on their official Facebook account this evening indicating that the wrestler may have signed a contract with TNA.  There has been no confirmation or announcement by TNA or Santana Garrett on a possible debut date but I imagine she'll appear on the UK Tour in some capacity.  We will be sure to update you on the Garrett situation when we get more information.  Kudos to TNAMecca member Josue Guzman for the heads up.

Pick 'em League: Impact Glasgow Polls are Open!

TNAMecca Pick 'em League is in its third consecutive week of action with the two weeks of Genesis and the live show in Glasgow, Scotland.  Going into this week's Impact, the gap between ChadofLOE in first place and those in second has widen so this week's lone match is a must-win for those still trailing the frontrunner.  Click here to view the current standings.  As always, only members of the Pick 'em League can submit predictions.  Any predictions submitted by non-league members will be ignored and not counted. The polls are open until Thursday, January 30th at 1:00PM EST. Members can only submit one prediction form. So without further delay make your picks below.

UPDATE: Jeremy Borash to Join Announce Crew?

Jeremy Borash tweeted the following on his official Twitter account last night:
This is fantastic news as Borash is easily the best announcer TNA have on their roster.  I imagine he'll join the crew as a third member, hopefully in play-by-play duties.  We don't know, however, if this is for one night only or a permanent change.  I, for one, hope Jeremy Borash becomes the official voice of the new era in TNA.  It's long overdue.

UPDATE: For some reason, a couple of hours after posting it, Jeremy Borash deleted his tweet so perhaps he prematurely made the news public.  Whatever the case may be, I hope he still joins the announce crew on Thursday night.

Ringside: Impact Wrestling Review - Jan 23, 2014

Going forward, our weekly Ringside review of Impact Wrestling will be posted on TNAMecca each and every Sunday night at 6:00PM EST.  For those in the UK, who have just finished watching Genesis part Two on Challenge TV, please feel free to share with us your thoughts of tonight's show.  What did you like about it?  What didn't you like?  What did you think of the Wolves' promo?

The Youth Movement

"Out with the old; in with the new." That seems to be the phrase used lately to describe the talent changes in TNA recently. Over the last few months we have seen the departure of AJ Styles, who was arguably the face of TNA Wrestling. Along with him we have seen, at least onscreen, the departures of Jeff Hardy and Sting. Couple that with rumors of other TNA originals (Daniels, Kazarian, Samoa Joe) possibly leaving when their contracts come due, it seems like a lot the "old" TNA is on its way out. On the flip side, we have seen the development of a TNA "Brat Pack" with Magnus, Ethan Carter III, The Bro-Mans and Rockstar Spud. There is also the signing of Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards, known as the The Wolves and a repackaged Samuel Shaw. A lot of fans are screaming that there is a "Youth Movement" in TNA and a lot of the TNA faithful are saying that this will be what turns the company around and leads them into the future. Even going as far as to say that TNA doesn't need the names from the past anymore and the new talent can carry the load. Well, I'm on the fence (or on the cage rather) about whether or not this "Youth Movement" could work, so let's get in the cage and look at all the angles. Why it could work, why it may not fly and what is the best case scenario for TNA and the "Youth Movement". I'd better do it quick too as I can see them coming at me from a distance and they look ready to take over.

Saturday Night Chat - Jan 25, 2014

Welcome to the debut of Saturday Night Chat on TNAMecca!  Although we aren't an open forum where members can start their own threads, our sense of community spirit is what sets us apart from other wrestling sites so we thought it'd be fun to give our members the ability to dictate the discussion for one night a week.  Anything goes in Saturday Night Chat but we do ask that all topics remain TNA-related.  And yes, for those wondering, you can discuss any rumors from any source regardless of how ludicrous they might be.  However, the same etiquette rules that apply to our comments section in general also will apply here.  Have fun, folks.

Glasgow, Scotland: You are in for a TREAT!

The magnitude of the situation looks sky high to me.  I remember fondly when it was announced in early May of 2013: "The Glasgow show on the U.K. Tour taking place on January 30th, 2014 will be broadcast LIVE in the United Kingdom on Challenge TV!"  The much-deserved "first dibs" FINALLY was pre-planned and awarded to the most-deserving international TNA fan-base.  Even at that time last May, I remember contemplating (as many did) what TNA might look like by then.  Would Magnus be in the World Title scene at that point?  What will TNA's direction be by that point?  Will they have a HUGE crowd there to witness the show at the new SSE Hydro arena?  Now we all know those answers.  Magnus is TNA World Champion heading back to his native land for multiple IMPACT episodes.  There is a distinct Youth Movement within IMPACT WRESTLING headlined by exciting and emerging superstars.  There is a HOOK to draw people in with The New Investor angle.  And finally, I am very confident that the crowd in Glasgow will be large, rowdy and HOT!

TNA to Return to Universal Studios in March!

TNA have announced that the company will return to Universal Studios, at least temporarily, in March for several sets of Impact tapings as well as a One Night Only taping and a PPV live event.  We had wondered whether or not TNA would remain on the road after the UK Tour or find another permanent location.  It seems that TNA have found another solution that includes temporarily taping at the Impact Zone, perhaps giving them more time to find a permanent location or budget for a future on the road.  Only time will tell but this is good news for those of you who were concerned that TNA wouldn't find a home after the Lockdown PPV on March 9th.  However, the most newsworthy item in this announcement is the fact that there will be a fourth live PPV this year between Lockdown and Slammiversary in June.  It's anybody's guess which PPV it will be but hopefully we'll get more info in the coming weeks.  Kudos to Richard Gray of Wrestling News World for the heads up.

The schedule for the Impact Zone tapings is below...

The Roster Breakdown: Part 1

In TNA's recent ad campaign, two specific things were mentioned that are evidently coming into play as the company moves forward, new talent and new characters. With TNA hyping the arrival of more new faces and new gimmicks, the current roster will more than likely under evaluation to make room for new talent and for some current stars to possibly receive new gimmicks. In this two part column, I will run down the TNA roster and give a brief summary of a superstar, and conclude whether they will carry on as normal, repackaged with a new persona or find themselves heading for the exit.

Who is the New Investor?

It was announced last night during Genesis that the new investor will be revealed next week at the live Impact in Glasgow, Scotland.  To clarify, the show will be live for the UK fans but will air via tape delay in the US later that night.  For this reason, it will be practically impossible to avoid spoilers if you're a fan in the US, unless you avoid the internet completely until 9:00PM EST.  In any case, we had been speculating all week, who is this new investor who signed the Wolves to a contract?  Well, it appears that we will all find out next week.  So let's have some fun in the meantime, shall we?  Who do you think is the new investor and why?  For those who missed the Wolves' amazing promo on last night's Impact, I've posted it below.

Post-IMPACT Discussion for Jan 23, 2014

One of my favorite activities after watching Impact is searching for forums in which fans can talk about the show and share with one another their thoughts.  However, it's getting increasingly harder to find venues where TNA fans can safely express their opinions on Impact without having to deal with the trolling of the anti-TNA crowd or the smarks who insist on taking the fun out of pro wrestling.

The Wolves Confirmed for the TNA UK Tour!

Eddie Edwards posted the following message and photo on his official Twitter account earlier today:

UPDATE: The other half of the Wolves, Davey Richards, chimed in this afternoon with the following tweet about the UK tour, complete with photo of his passport:

TNA Thursday Randomania - Jan 23, 2014

- This week, I'd like to begin with the storyline that seemed to pique most fans' interest last Thursday night and that is the new investor in TNA.  Putting aside the absurdity of an investor buying into the company without Dixie Carter's knowledge, I feel that it's a storyline that works.  It works for one reason: it's the only way heel Dixie will get her comeuppance.  As much as many of you would love to see it, Dixie Carter will not get her comeuppance by getting powerbombed through a table; or by being physically harmed in any way.  It's just not happening.  But it's entirely conceivable that an investor with deep pockets could come in and render her powerless.

The Expectations of "Live and Free on Spike TV"

Genesis part one is in the books and this show has received mixed reviews to say the least. There was the usual comments from the peanut gallery who trolled TNA fans, wrestlers and creative team members (Dave Lagana got it particularly bad) on Twitter and then there was the TNA faithful who would find something they liked on the show nevertheless. I believe that a lot of the criticism came from the fact that there was a lot of hype going into this show, not only because it was supposed to be the "dawning of a new era in TNA" but because of the tagline: "Live and Free on Spike TV." This phrase carries a lot of weight to it, more than I think TNA realizes. When you advertise an event as "Live and Free" you're insinuating that I should want to pay for it and I am getting it for free. Fans expectations become high. TNA has done several of these events over the past year since they have dropped to four "live event" pay per views a year. Most have been a success in the ratings and have left fans walking away happily as well. However, after watching Genesis this past Thursday, I am afraid TNA has made a misstep, as Genesis felt less like a "free per view" and more like a regular edition of Impact. We here at TNAMecca get accused of being "biased" towards TNA (if we weren't a little why would we be part of a TNA site?) well folks, I'm going to give a little balance. In my opinion, expectations were not met with Genesis part one.

Saturday Night Chat comes to TNAMecca!

We've been receiving requests from our readers for an open forum where fans can get together and discuss random TNA topics.  Well, on behalf of the entire TNAMecca staff, I'd like to invite you all to Saturday Night Chat - an open discussion on any and all topics from the world of TNA.  Saturday Night Chat will debut this Saturday at 7:00PM EST and will be made available to our readers each and every Saturday night thereafter.  So make sure you join us for a fun night of good debate and yes, even some witty banter.

OVW No Longer TNA Developmental Territory

There's been quite a few reports regarding the status of TNA's partnership with Ohio Valley Wrestling in recent months.  Several sources reported that TNA had ended its working relationship with the Louisville promotion but we were told by a source within OVW that it's "just rumors".  I believed our source simply because TNA wrestlers were still appearing on OVW TV and the home page of OVW's official site still featured TNA's logo - a sign that the partnership had not ended.  Today, however, we received word from a source with knowledge of the situation that the partnership between TNA and OVW has indeed ended. Out of curiosity, I then visited OVW's home page to find that the TNA logo was removed recently.

The Wolves' Contract Status with TNA

Jason Powell of Pro Wrestling Dot Net is reporting that Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards have signed a one-year deal with TNA.  In addition, the Wolves are expected to be on the Maximum Impact Tour next week.  I'm glad to see Richards and Edwards are expected to be part of the TNA family for at least a year, giving them an opportunity to showcase their skills on national television.  It's also important to note that the Wolves should be featured quite a bit due to their involvement in the new investor storyline.

Dab Savage Appears at TNA House Show in Georgia

Independent wrestler Dab Savage appeared at TNA's house show in Albany, GA last night in a match against Dewey Barnes. Like Shawn Shultz who appeared at last weekend's house shows, Savage participated in the online Gutcheck challenge last year, winning his bracket and finishing third in the Winners Bracket behind John Klinger and Shanna. It appears that TNA is giving Gutcheck participants another look as they continue to try to look for talent to add to their main Impact Wrestling roster.  The photo above was taken by James Culbreth at the house show in Albany.  In addition, I've added additional photos of Dab Savage from the house show below, courtesy of Mr. Culbreth.

Ringside: Impact Wrestling Review - Jan 16, 2014

Effective immediately, our weekly Ringside review of Impact Wrestling will be posted on TNAMecca each and every Sunday night at 6:00PM EST.  For those in the UK, who have just finished watching Genesis on Challenge TV, please feel free to share with us your thoughts of tonight's show.  What did you like about it?  What didn't you like?  What did you think of the Wolves' debut?

Pick 'em League: Post Genesis Part 1 Standings

The first half of Genesis is over and we have 3 matches from the show to add to the Leaderboard. 9 points were up for grabs on the show, and for the first time this season several people performed a clean sweep and earned all 9 points. The favourites going into the matches were EC3, Bully Ray & Gail Kim, so wins from EC3 and Bully Ray benefited a strong portion of the league, while Ranye's surprise victory earned several people a well deserved 3 points. Lets take a look at the full breakdown of the picks;

PHOTOS: TNA Genesis - Jan 16, 2014

The following is a series of photos taken by Philip Hall, who attended Thursday night's Genesis event in Huntsville, Alabama. Mr. Hall, a passionate TNA fan, has so generously allowed us to post his photos here on TNAMecca and for that, we thank him. Very rarely do we post photos from TNA events but I thought we'd make an exception for this particular set simply because I was truly captivated when I first saw them yesterday. I hope you enjoy them as much I do.  In addition, if you would, please give Philip Hall a follow on Twitter at @phall36

A Sick & Sadistic Alliance from Bully Ray & Samuel Shaw?

A light bulb went off in my mind today.  I had this same thought a while back on one of our Ringside IMPACT Wrestling reviews about Samuel Shaw and Bully Ray, and that thought was that they are both of the same ilk.  They are both sick bastards with bad intentions that go past your normal wrestling-show protocol.  They are dangerous characters that can make you suspend your disbelief and maybe for a few minutes you actually think they may set someone on fire or permanently maim someone.  I love that some smarky fan attitudes from last night's Genesis about the Bully Ray/Anderson match was one of disappointment that neither of them ended up getting sent though a FLAMING TABLE.  That tells me that people definitely WANTED fire, and the live crowd in Huntsville did actually chant for it to happen at one point.  When Bully pulled out the lighter fluid, people wanted to see that.  Patience you blood-thirsty hooligans!  You will get fire soon enough.......amongst other twisted acts of violence.  However, like Chris Regal has pointed out that's being reserved for a PPV probably due to the restrictions that Spike TV has on that kind of violence.

EXCLUSIVE: TNA in Talks with James Raideen

A source, with knowledge of the situation, has informed TNAMecca that TNA are in talks with current Pro Wrestling Zero1's World Heavyweight Champion, James Raideen.  The 22 year old, New Zealand native was formally trained by Bully Ray and Devon Dudley so scouts within TNA are quite familiar with the young wrestler. We will be sure to bring you any updates as we get them.

Post-IMPACT Discussion for Jan 16, 2014

One of my favorite activities after watching Impact is searching for forums in which fans can talk about the show and share with one another their thoughts.  However, it's getting increasingly harder to find venues where TNA fans can safely express their opinions on Impact without having to deal with the trolling of the anti-TNA crowd or the smarks who insist on taking the fun out of pro wrestling.

James Storm Teases More New Talents for Genesis

The following tweet was posted by the Cowboy James Storm this afternoon on his official Twitter account:

Just to add to the excitement for tonight's show, James Storm's tweet leads me to believe that my colleague MisterTNA is right in that Dixie Carter gave away the American Wolves' debut but still has more surprises up her sleeve or at least one more new talent to reveal.  This is going to be an amazing night.

Pick 'em League: Genesis Polls Now Closed!

After a gap between the last event, Season One is back in full swing, and ready to find out who you think will walk out of Genesis a victor. 5 Matches are eligible in this round, offering a total of 15 points to anyone who can successfully predict all 5 victors. The matches included are Kurt Angle vs Bobby Roode in a Steel Cage, EC3 vs Sting, Mr Anderson vs Bully Ray, James Storm vs Gunner for the World Title briefcase and Gail Kim vs Madison Rayne for the Knockouts title.

As you may be aware, Genesis will be a two-week event, airing on January 16th and 23rd. Due to TNA not specifying which episodes these matches will take place, we have decided on the following: All 5 matches are eligible, the polls will close on Thursday, January 16th at 6:00PM EST, then the points from each match will be updated after they have aired. We understand that both halves of the event will be taped on the 16th, but to keep the League, and TNAMecca in general spoiler free, if for example Gunner vs Storm doesn't air until the 23rd, the points coming from that match will not be awarded until after it has aired.

UPDATE: The American Wolves Confirmed for Genesis!

Dixie Carter tweeted the hint she had promised yesterday regarding the new talent that will appear on tonight's Impact:

She's not subtle, is she? I think we can now finally confirm that the American Wolves, Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards will be making their TNA debut at Genesis tonight in Huntsville AL. How you do guys feel about this?  I'm ecstatic.  I think the American Wolves are a perfect fit for the TNA style of pro wrestling/sports entertainment.  There's no doubt in my mind that they will excel in an environment that's conducive for talented workers.

UPDATE: Jason Powell of Pro Wrestling Dot Net is reporting that Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards are in Huntsville AL today.  Although we all had ultimately come to the conclusion that the American Wolves would debut at Genesis, it's nice to hear that they've arrived in Huntsville.  PWInsider has also confirmed this news.  (Kudos to TNAMecca supporter PhenomAJJones for the heads up.)

TNA Thursday Randomania - Jan 16, 2014

- I can't remember the last time TNA fans were as ecstatic as they were yesterday afternoon when Dixie Carter tweeted a hint regarding the new talent coming to Genesis.  If the reaction to that one tweet is any indication, TNA fans are still quite passionate about the company and product.  Unfortunately, we sometimes forget what a huge and spirited following TNA has simply because the anti-TNA sentiment is louder.  The haters always make more noise.  But the fact remains that TNA has millions of fans all over the world, who show their support each and every week when they tune in to watch Impact.  Yesterday, the reaction by the fans proved to me how relevant TNA still is and will remain due to the support of an emotionally invested fanbase.  It also proved that TNA fans have a bond with the company that's unlike any other in professional wrestling.  I, for one, am delighted to be part of the TNA family.

Genesis: A New Beginning

I always thought that most of TNA's pay per view names were fairly random. While Lockdown and Slammiversary made sense; Genesis was one of those shows that I always thought didn't really click and I would joke was named after the band featuring Phil Collins. However, 2014's edition of Genesis fits the bill perfectly, as this show may indeed be the genesis of a new TNA. "Out with the old, in with the new" seems to be a running theme lately and with all the pre-taped stuff out of the way, I am very interested to see just what the "new TNA" will look like. Now, I'm not 100 percent sure what will take place on week one or week two, but we have a pretty good looking card here so let's take a look shall we?

TNA Sending Out Feelers to Ring of Honor Talent?

Mike Johnson of PWInsider is reporting that TNA has been talking with former Ring of Honor wrestlers lately about joining the company presumably at Genesis but more interestingly, TNA has also sent out feelers to wrestlers who are currently under contract with ROH.  This is an interesting development simply because we had not considered someone like Kevin Steen or Adam Cole due to their contract obligations with ROH. Obviously, we won't see any of them at Genesis this Thursday night but it's a sign that TNA is actively pursuing indie talent, which is one of the criticisms of the company as of late.

14 January 2014

It's Official. New Talents Coming to Genesis.

TNA President Dixie Carter announced the following last night on her official Twitter account:

I realize she teased this a few days ago but I'm glad that she made an official announcement to continue to build the fans' excitement for Genesis, which is already very high in my case.  We've been reporting the last couple of weeks about the American Wolves coming to TNA so I imagine Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards are two of the new talents that Dixie Carter is referring to.  The question is...who else could be making his or her TNA debut at Genesis?

Kurt Angle to have Knee Surgery?

Alex Barie of TNANews.com is reporting that Kurt Angle is scheduled to have knee surgery in early February, which means that he could miss the Lockdown PPV.  I think this is a smart decision by Kurt Angle simply because his knee has been a problem for quite some time now.  However, the lack of babyfaces on the TNA roster is a concern.  I hope the company makes it a priority to elevate existing talent such as Samoa Joe and Austin Aries to the top spot or perhaps even consider turning Bobby Roode at the Impact tapings in the UK.

13 January 2014

Jay Bradley and Wes Brisco Released by TNA

TNA, late last night, removed the profiles for Jay Bradley and Wes Brisco from the Impact Wrestling roster on the company's website.  Bradley and Brisco have been officially released by the company.  I hate to say it but I'm not surprised by either release simply because you can make the case that the writing was on the wall.  I'm a fan of Bradley's so I'm not happy to see him go but unfortunately, TNA must've not seen enough to want to keep him on the roster.  The timing of this is also not surprising with the rumors that TNA are planning to bring in new talent soon, with some possibly debuting at Genesis this Thursday night.

Lockdown PPV Date & Location Revealed!

Dixie Carter just announced the date and location for the Lockdown PPV via her official Twitter account:

I would've liked to have seen Lockdown take place in the Northeast but I'm fine with Miami.  It'll be interesting to see whether or not it's an all-cage PPV this year or will only the main event matches take place inside the cage like last year's event.  I'm hoping it's the former simple because part of Lockdown's appeal is the fact that every match takes place inside the steel cage.

#REWIND365: 29 Dec - 11 Jan 2014

Welcome to #REWIND365 Where the Reaction Never Ends, a selective look at the fortnight's offerings from #IMPACT365 and the first instalment for 2014.  A new, young World Champion crowned, the parting of ways between TNA and two of its most notable alumni, 2014 is already set to be a massive year for the company as their new creative direction heads towards Genesis.

TNAMecca Presents...New Talent Tracker 2014!

Ladies and gentlemen, we present to you our newest feature, the TNAMecca New Talent Tracker, where we keep track of every new talent rumor, report, or signing so you don't have to.  The Tracker will be updated the moment we get any new information on new talent tidbits so please make sure you keep checking back in for updates and news.  It's going to be a very interesting year in TNA for new talents and we hope to make the entire process much easier for our readers and TNA fans.  You can find the New Talent Tracker by simply clicking on the link on the page tab above, directly underneath the site's header.

Shawn Shultz Appears at TNA House Show in Tennessee

Independent wrestler Shawn Shultz appeared at TNA's house show in Bristol, TN last night in a match against Dewey Barnes.  We've been hearing rumors that TNA will be signing new talent in 2014 and yesterday, it was essentially confirmed by a Dixie Carter tweet.  Could we see Shultz appear on Impact as part of the new signings initiative?  Or was TNA simply giving a local talent an opportunity to make some extra money as Shultz is from Tennessee.  Incidentally, Shawn Shultz was part of last year's TNA Gutcheck online challenge, so he's been on TNA's radar for quite some time.

The Spectacle that was Magnus vs AJ Styles

This might come across as hyperbole but I'm being quite sincere when I say that last night's main event was one of the biggest spectacles I've ever watched in pro wrestling.  It was the sort of segment that reminded me why I love pro wrestling so much.  In fact, in no other industry can you witness such an event. Of course, there were those who were outraged, OUTRAGED, that TNA had the gall to simply not conform to what those in the industry believe pro wrestling to be.  Some called it overbooked.  By the way, the term "overbooked" is the most misused word in the pro wrestling lexicon.  It's often used by the "experts" to denigrate a match or segment, once again, because it doesn't fit in their narrow view of what pro wrestling is.  Or because they simply didn't get it.  Last night was a perfect example.  Those who dismissed the segment as overbooked, completely missed the nuances of the storyline.

Post-IMPACT Discussion for Jan 9, 2014

So please feel free to share with us your thoughts on tonight's Impact.  What did you think of the show?  What did you like or dislike?  Let us know.

TNA Thursday Randomania - Jan 9, 2014

"A Genesis of new is coming", Dixie Carter tweeted yesterday.  Never has there been a time in TNA history that the Genesis name meant more than it does now.  Genesis, on January 16th in Huntsville, will be the beginning of the next chapter in the decade-plus long history of TNA.  It's a chapter that will be told without the two men who are arguably the most associated with the TNA brand.  In my opinion, this is a good thing.  It's time for a new era in TNA.

The Kick-Starter U.K. Tour is Approaching!

I get very excited every year for the annual TNA U.K./European Tour.  I don't know what it is.  This is the 3rd year in a row that I have gotten this pumped up.  I'm sure part of it is that this will be the 3rd consecutive time it's been taped for TV and we can all actually see it worldwide.  Given that this is the "Maximum IMPACT Tour VI", that means the first 3 years we were mainly able to only read about how successful the tour had previously been (and I believe there were some video clips).  I'd see surprisingly large crowds from England in pictures posted online and think to myself, "Hmmmmm....that's interesting that the fan-base is so strong over there.  I wish I could see that on TV."  Well, lo and behold, the wish of myself and many came true in 2012 and the U.K. Tour just keeps getting bigger and better with each passing year.

One Night Only: #OldSchool PPV to Premiere on Feb 7, 2014

InDemand has posted information about the One Night Only: #OldSchool PPV on their site and it appears that the show will premiere on Friday, February 7th, which is a little over a month since it was taped.  This is a huge improvement over the One Night Only PPVs of 2013, which aired as much as nine months after the tapings.

The American Wolves to Join TNA on UK Tour?

We've been reporting for the last couple of weeks on the possibility of the American Wolves signing with TNA after WWE reportedly declined to sign them after their try-outs.  There have been signs that the Wolves could possibly join TNA at some point and Davey Richards' latest tweets may have given us a clue as to when.  A fan asked Richards on Twitter if he would be coming back to the UK this year, to which Davey replied, "I am."  In another tweet to a fan, Richards expressed his regret over canceling a future indie show by explaining that he "can't say at the moment but you'll see why soon enough."  Late last night, it was brought to my attention, by TNAMecca reader James Drake, that the indie show Richards was referring to was to take place on February 1st, which incidentally coincides with TNA's UK Tour.  I wouldn't necessarily describe it as top notch detective work but judging by these tweets, it's quite possible that the American Wolves will make their TNA debut as early as January 16th at Genesis, just in time for the UK Tour.

UPDATE: TNA Interested in Former WWE Superstar?

TNA are considering using the money they were offering to AJ Styles on a former WWE superstar that they are interested in, according to Richard Gray of Wrestling News World.  I'm not sure how I feel about this simply because I don't think it's smart to allocate part of your budget for another costly contract that a former WWE superstar would require.  With that said, if the superstar is someone in his prime, I'd make an exception as I feel there is currently a lack of star power in TNA, especially with the hiatus of Jeff Hardy and the possible departure of Sting.  One former WWE superstar that I'd consider is John Hennigan (formerly John Morrison) but I can't think of anyone else who would fit my description as "in his prime" and warrant the type of salary offered to AJ Styles.

UPDATE: It was brought to my attention, this afternoon, that Richard Gray specifically named MVP as the former WWE superstar that TNA is interested in.  I'm not exactly thrilled by this rumor but I will take a wait and see approach.  I believe in giving wrestlers a chance before I evaluate their performance.  With that said, I wasn't a huge fan of his work in the WWE.

Who are the TOP 5 Contenders for Magnus?

Ladies and gentlemen, Magnus is your TNA World Heavyweight Champion.  As pointed out previously many times, he is TNA's youngest World Champ and the first British World Champ in over 100 hundred years.  So with Genesis and the U.K. Tour both quickly approaching I thought it might be fun to speculate as to who will challenge and feud with Magnus for the TNA World Title in the near future.  I will give you my TOP 5 contenders for Magnus in 2014 and I'd like to see your TOP 5 lists as well.  So let's get to it.

Where has Kenny King been?

The last time we saw Kenny King on Impact, he had busted his head open at the hands of Austin Aries after provoking the greatest man that ever lived.  Well, it was actually a week later in an X Division tag team match but the point I'm trying to make is this...in just one episode of Impact, Kenny King made more of an impression than many wrestlers make in months.  That is the beauty of King.  He's got a knack for making even the most casual of fans sit up and take notice, which raises the question...where has Kenny King been and why isn't he on TV?

VIDEO: Jay Bradley Interview

Being that we discussed Jay Bradley's status with TNA earlier today on TNAMecca, I thought it's fitting that we post his recent interview with the Sports Courier, in which he discusses several topics including his recent trip to Japan. Not to mention, Bradley's adorable dog makes a cameo in the interview.  Jay Bradley is someone whom I feel should be given a legit push in TNA upon his return.  There's not a doubt in my mind that he will return at some point because he's simply too talented not to be featured on TV every week.
