The Inexplicable Booking of Austin Aries

Although the booking for Austin Aries has left me completely baffled, I've maintained a wait-and-see approach for several months simply because I often try to give TNA the benefit of the doubt.  In many cases, TNA rewards my patience but I feel like the booking for Austin Aries continues to frustrate me. Obviously, I'm not privy to the inner workings of TNA management but it's evident that the company isn't completely behind him and I'm not sure why.  Perhaps there's something to the rumors that he's too taxing behind the scenes but I'm not sure it's reason enough not to fully harness one of the most exciting talents in the industry right now.  And quite frankly, if that's the case, then I think TNA are being foolish.  But again, I won't speculate as to the reason.  I can only share my thoughts on what I know and right now, TNA are essentially squandering Aries' prime years.

Unfortunately, what prompted this POV is far more troubling than the way TNA has been booking Austin Aries.  As we all saw, Aries did not appear once again on this week's episode of Impact.  The day of the show, Aries tweeted the following on his official account, "Extended vacation, reevaluation. Lessons learned, corners turned. Bleed the care, change is in the air."  I'm not sure what to make of this but it's certainly not giving me good vibes.  To make matters worse, Aries tweeted the following late last night, "Simply #EVOLVE".  For those who don't know, EVOLVE is an indie promotion co-owned by former Ring of Honor creator, Gabe Sapolsky.  Again, what to make of this?  I'm typically a glass half full kind of guy but I'll be honest, I simply can not put on a happy face and give TNA the benefit of the doubt, hoping that it will all work out.  Not this time.  Not while my favorite wrestler's status hangs in the balance.
