Ringside: Impact Wrestling Review - Mar 27, 2014

The Identity of TNA is Becoming More Defined

I am really surprised by how well this new direction that TNA has taken is resonating with me.  For those that actually know me, you know that I don't always like everything that TNA puts in front of me every single time that they have a show (contrary to popular belief).  I am not a "fanboy".  I don't think you guys consider yourselves to be "fanboys" either.  I will tell you if I think something is wrong (in my opinion) or if I don't like something, but it's true that I am a fairly optimistic person.  I form my own opinions and don't let the dirtsheets and "pundits" dictate how I should feel about TNA and it's product.  Being independent of the popular mind-set that circulates the IWC: it's like deeply breathing in fresh mountain air that isn't trapped in a stale office building and recirculated over and over again until all of the bacteria and microscopic debris in said building make it nearly impossible to breath properly.  I'm not putting myself on a pedestal, I'm simply expressing my metaphorical experience of what "not buying into the anti-TNA negativity" is like to me.  That being said, I believe that the company is on the precipice of turning a MAJOR corner with their product.  What an exciting time to be a TNA fan!.

Saturday Night Chat - Mar 29, 2014

Welcome to Saturday Night Chat on TNAMecca!  Although we aren't an open forum where members can start their own threads, our sense of community spirit is what sets us apart from other wrestling sites so we thought it'd be fun to give our members the ability to dictate the discussion for one night a week.  Anything goes in Saturday Night Chat but we do ask that all topics remain TNA-related and stay on topic. You can also discuss any rumors from any source regardless of how ludicrous they might sound.  However, the same etiquette rules that apply to our comments section in general also will apply here, including our policy on spoilers.

Where is the Tag Team Division?

Since the arrival of the Wolves, Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards, TNA has given fans a glimpse into a probable future of TNA tag team wrestling. Alongside the current Tag Team Champions The BroMans, Robbie-E & Jessie Godderz, these two teams appear to have been selected as the foundation for the new Tag Team Division in the new era. Both have been trading the titles both & forth during February and feuding since January, the only dilemma in this battle is what do these excellent tag teams do after the feud is over? Who is there left to battle with?

The Wolves vs Generation Me in a Best of 7 Series?

Last night in the above #IMPACT365 video, Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards of the Wolves were asked about their dream opponent in a potential best of seven series.  The interviewer, I'm assuming Bryan Edwards, reminded them of the outstanding series between the Motor City Machine Guns and Beer Money in 2011, which prompted the dream scenario question.  In a surprising twist, Richards mentioned Generation Me.  This is an interesting development as I don't believe it's just a coincidence.  I don't believe TNA would post a video of one of their tag teams challenging a tag team from another promotion if there wasn't at least a plan in place to make it happen.  Personally, I'd love to see it as the two teams are, at this time, two of the best in the world. My only concern is that neither team is strong on the mic so their in-ring work will have to speak for itself but I think I'm OK with that.

Post-IMPACT Discussion for Mar 27, 2014

One of my favorite activities after watching Impact is searching for forums in which fans can talk about the show and share with one another their thoughts.  However, it's getting increasingly harder to find venues where TNA fans can safely express their opinions on Impact without having to deal with the trolling of the anti-TNA crowd or the smarks who insist on taking the fun out of pro wrestling.

For this reason, we felt it was important to make TNAMecca available to our readers and any TNA fans who would like to discuss the show after watching it.  You can now visit TNAMecca immediately following Impact to do exactly that in the comments section below each and every week.  So please feel free to share with us your thoughts on tonight's Impact from Orlando.  What did you think of the show?  What did you like or dislike?  Let us know.

Kenny King to Return to TNA Tonight?

Although the Kenny King vignettes started airing a few weeks ago, we were not quite sure when he'd be returning to TNA. Hopefully, King's tweet is an indication that the King of the Night is making his official return to TNA tonight as he's been sorely missed.  It'll be interesting to see what exactly Kenny King has up his sleeve, especially since it involves MVP.

TNA Thursday Randomania - Mar 27, 2014

- This week, I'd like to begin with the Gunner vs James Storm Unlocked: No DQ, No Countout, Falls Count Anywhere Match.  Typically, there are two promo videos that TNA releases during the week - a short SpikeTV teaser and the official opening to Impact.  This week, both featured the feud between Gunner and Storm and nothing else, essentially giving their hardcore match top billing.  So I've decided to follow TNA's lead and give this much anticipated match top billing on this week's Randomania.  Although this feud began late last year, it truly never took off until James Storm turned on Gunner in his world title match against Magnus last month in Manchester.  Since then, it's been one of my favorite feuds on the show.  I'd even go as far as to name it my second favorite current feud in TNA, behind only the deliciously zany Samuel Shaw vs Mr Anderson.  So I'm glad to see they're in the spotlight this week as I think it's very much deserved.  For one, their Last Man Standing match at Lockdown was arguably the best on the PPV and two, last week's segment in which Storm smashed a beer bottle over Mr. Lail's head will go down as one of the most memorable 'Holy Shit' moments of the year.  When it's time for the 2014 year-end awards, everyone will remember the moment Gunner's dad got knocked out at the hands of James Storm.

Does TNA Offer a Product for the Savvy Wrestling Fan?

I like to think of myself as a savvy pro wrestling enthusiast with a vast knowledge of a genre that I've followed for thirty years.  I'm by no means an expert but I pride myself on being a well-informed and knowledgeable fan who puts in several hours of research per week.  Please do not, however, misconstrue this.  My desire to educate myself on the genre is simply a way for me to enjoy the wrestling experience to its fullest, not to be used as a tool to second guess those who work in the industry.  That's simply not something I care to do.  However, there's still one aspect of being a wrestling fan that I find challenging, at times, and that's my ability to suspend my disbelief.

Setting the Record Straight

Recently, TNA parted ways with Knockout Lei'D Tapa. Tapa won a contract with TNA a little over a year ago as one of the Gut Check contestants, and she was soon assigned to Ohio Valley Wrestling for development. Tapa was called up to TNA last year, where she feuded with ODB on a couple of the house show tours and appeared on Impact as Gail Kim's bodyguard.

Not long after Tapa's release and her subsequent farewell messages on social media, a story started spreading through several internet wrestling news sites that she was fired due to her unwillingness to work, her inability to improve, and the fact that she was a "ticking time bomb". These rumors quickly spread throughout the internet wrestling community and were taken as fact by many.

I would like to take this opportunity to offer my point of view on this issue. I'm not speaking for Lei'D Tapa in any official capacity, but she is a personal friend of mine, so I do have some insight to offer.

Big Plans for TNA on Sony SIX in India!

This is good news as India is one country that TNA can develop and grow a huge fanbase if their partner in Sony SIX gives them any sort of support. Although Simon Rothstein wasn't too specific in his tweet, it sounds like Sony SIX has big plans for TNA this year. According to a Marketing Manager at Sony SIX they are "totally looking forward to a blockbuster year with TNA!"

#REWIND365: 10 - 23 Mar 2014

Welcome to #REWIND365 Where the Reaction Never Ends, a selective look at the fortnight's offerings from #IMPACT365.  At Lockdown 2014 we saw a shift in power with MVP taking the reigns of TNA.  Old alliances were severed and new ones forged.  The roster saw a welcome boost with both new and returning faces, and creative began sowing the seeds for a multitude of new storylines to take us up to Sacrifice.  #IMPACT365 has been inundated with exclusive footage these past two weeks, and here are just a few of the highlights.

UPDATE on TNA/Hammerstein Ballroom Story

We have been monitoring the TNA/Hammerstein Ballroom story for a couple of days now and it appears that the original report by Pro Wrestling Dot Net may have been inaccurate. Today, PWInsider reported that TNA plans to book the upstairs Grand Ballroom of the Manhattan Center, not the Hammerstein Ballroom.  The report goes on to say that the company has not locked in any dates yet.  We will continue to bring you updates as we get them so make sure you check back soon. Kudos to TNAMecca supporter PhenomAJJones for the heads up.

Take it on the Run, Baby!

2014 has seen an exciting new direction for TNA, but one event stands above the rest to me. I'm not talking about the signing of the Wolves, or the revelation of MVP as the new investor, or even the introduction of Jeff Hardy's new character, Willow.  No, what's got me excited is Wrestle-1's Seiya Sanada winning the X Division Championship.

As a long suffering fan of the X Division, I really like the attention this is bringing to the championship. Not only is Sanada an amazing talent, but the very fact that a wrestler from another promotion wears and defends the belt is a fascinating story. Sanada will be defending his X Division title on a Wrestle-1 show this week in Japan against an opponent completely unknown to TNA fans. In fact, I doubt many American fans will even be able to watch the match.

Lei'D Tapa Confirms her TNA Exit

Lei'D Tapa posted the following on her official Twitter account following last night's Impact: "When One Door Closes another door opens! Thanks @ImpactWrestling for the opportunity to share with the world my passion for what I enjoy doing! To all of my fans I love you all & thank you for your Loyal support from day 1!! Forever grateful and blessed!! Looking forward to the future & great things to come!! Keep supporting Queen Of Rings we bout to takeover!! To the top we go!!! #BowDown"

Although there was a rumor circulating for most of the day yesterday, I won't speculate on what led to Tapa's TNA exit but from a performance standpoint, I felt like Lei'D Tapa had a lot of potential and although she showed glimpses of it throughout her time in TNA, it never fully came together for her.  Perhaps she could return to TNA at some point when the timing's right for both sides and she's better prepared.

Post-IMPACT Discussion for Mar 20, 2014

One of my favorite activities after watching Impact is searching for forums in which fans can talk about the show and share with one another their thoughts.  However, it's getting increasingly harder to find venues where TNA fans can safely express their opinions on Impact without having to deal with the trolling of the anti-TNA crowd or the smarks who insist on taking the fun out of pro wrestling.

Dixie Carter/Bully Ray Meeting Today!

It appears that Dixie Carter, who has not been seen since Lockdown, has requested to meet with a talent at the TNA offices this afternoon in what is being described as a private meeting.  No word on who that talent is but we will monitor this situation throughout the day so hopefully, he or she will be identified at some point.  In the meantime, click here to read the full article on TNA's site.

UPDATE: It now appears the talent that Dixie Carter will meet with this afternoon behind close doors is Bully Ray.  Although it is not surprising, given the events of the last week, it'll be interesting to see what transpires between the two.  I imagine we will be shown footage on tonight's Impact.  Click here for the full story on TNA's site.  Kudos to TNAMecca supporter Steve Barme for the heads up.

TNA Thursday Randomania - Mar 20, 2014

- This week, I'd like to begin with a POV I wrote recently regarding the booking of Austin Aries.  I feel like I need to clarify one thing: I did not report any rumors about Aries' contract status or the possibility of him leaving TNA.  I merely expressed my frustrations with the way TNA have booked him in recent months, which was triggered by Aries' cryptic tweets.  Do I believe that Aries is leaving TNA? No.  I don't believe that we will see Austin Aries leave TNA anytime soon.  Firstly, his contract I believe expires later in the year; I'm guessing in late Summer. And secondly, his salary won't hinder contract negotiations simply because, unlike AJ Styles' situation, the gap between TNA's offer and Aries' demands won't be as steep.  So I imagine the two sides will come to an agreement on a new deal when the time comes.

Don't Forget About the It Factor...or...

Coming off of a LockDown PPV that saw Magnus retain his World Title and Team Roode (or Team Dixie depending on how you look at it) lose control of TNA Wrestling Operations, it would be somewhat logical and natural to speculate on the future or the World Title picture.  Not knowing the spoiler results for the next few weeks has made this unpredictable, much to my enjoyment.  Now, I'm not saying that Samoa Joe will automatically lose on Thursday as I have no knowledge of that.  However, it seems fairly unlikely that the World Title would change hands on a taped episode of IMPACT, and if Joe was going to win the title it probably would have been at LockDown.  I am optimistic that the main event match this week will be an entertaining one, but with Abyss (chained to a brave Eric Young) lurking nearby it doesn't appear that an immanent 2nd World Title run is in the cards for The Samoan Submission Machine (like I said, I may be wrong since I literally do not know the spoiler results).

TNA to Invade the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City?

Jason Powell of Pro Wrestling Dot Net is reporting that TNA is renting the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City for three nights this Summer.  The report goes on to say that the shows will each take place in June, July, and August.  If true, this is wonderful news as fans have wanted to see TNA take Impact to New York City since the company began taking the show on the road last year.  I can't help but notice that one of the shows will be in July; could it be for Destination X?  Interestingly enough, when we were discussing possible locations for Slammiversary, I mentioned that Destination X in Hammerstein Ballroom would trigger the mark out of all mark outs in me. Kudos to TNAMecca supporter Will for the heads up.

UPDATE: Today, we learned that there might be some discrepancies in the original report by Jason Powell due to leaked misinformation. However, after doing our own due diligence, it appears that the part of the report that we care about - TNA booking the Hammerstein Ballroom - is accurate.  You will notice that we did not include any of Powell's nonessential tidbits regarding TNA finances and theories by his "source" to our initial report. We wanted no part of such drivel simply because it all sounded, at the time, like anti-TNA propaganda.  In any case, we will refrain from commenting on the disputed parts of the report as we simply have no interest in the matter.  Our focus has been and will continue to be the rumor that TNA will reportedly book the Hammerstein Ballroom this Summer, which we will continue to monitor so we can bring you something official.

The Inexplicable Booking of Austin Aries

Although the booking for Austin Aries has left me completely baffled, I've maintained a wait-and-see approach for several months simply because I often try to give TNA the benefit of the doubt.  In many cases, TNA rewards my patience but I feel like the booking for Austin Aries continues to frustrate me. Obviously, I'm not privy to the inner workings of TNA management but it's evident that the company isn't completely behind him and I'm not sure why.  Perhaps there's something to the rumors that he's too taxing behind the scenes but I'm not sure it's reason enough not to fully harness one of the most exciting talents in the industry right now.  And quite frankly, if that's the case, then I think TNA are being foolish.  But again, I won't speculate as to the reason.  I can only share my thoughts on what I know and right now, TNA are essentially squandering Aries' prime years.

Does MVP in Charge = Machine Gun-Style?

Last night's IMPACT exceeded my expectations.  I figured that TNA would bring a strong show but the action was RED HOT and came at us in an extremely face-paced and aggressive fashion.  It reminded me of a time before 2010 when TNA was really starting to come into its own.  Now I'm not an anti-Hogan guy like some, but it's extremely evident that since Hulks departure TNA has really started to rediscover the identity that once won fans over.  I am optimistic that as time goes on IMPACT Wrestling will continue to go back to its roots more and more.  Ironically enough, the man at the helm (on-camera) that is overseeing this nostalgic movement is another ex-WWE guy.  Go figure!

Post-IMPACT Discussion for Mar 13, 2014

One of my favorite activities after watching Impact is searching for forums in which fans can talk about the show and share with one another their thoughts.  However, it's getting increasingly harder to find venues where TNA fans can safely express their opinions on Impact without having to deal with the trolling of the anti-TNA crowd or the smarks who insist on taking the fun out of pro wrestling.

The Legacy of Dixie Carter

At the closing of Lockdown, fans saw the end of Dixie Carter's reign as the tyrannical President come to a crashing finale, her cheating ways backfiring in an almost poetic way as it was her own cheating that cost her the company.

Selecting the uncontrollable Bully Ray as her special guest referee, it looked as if Dixie Carter had found another way to keep control of the company within her grasp but in the closing stages of the fantastic Lethal Lockdown Match, seeing Team MVP: MVP, Jeff Hardy and The Wolves vs Team Roode: Bobby Roode, Austin Aries and The Bro-mans, Bobby Roode had MVP ready to put through a table but Bully Ray blocked him and left him vulnerable to MVP's final onslaught to get the win. Leaving MVP in control of the company and a seething Dixie Carter hurling abuse at Bully Ray for his betrayal.

Is it really the end of Dixie Carter?

Former TNA Knockout Returning Tonight!

This is a nice little surprise by TNA. We reported an exclusive a couple of weeks ago that Angelina Love would be returning to TNA at some point so it could certainly be her. With the debut of Brittany and the return of a former Knockout champion, tonight's show is shaping up to be quite interesting especially if you're a fan of the Knockouts Division. Kudos to TNAMecca supporter PhenomAJJones for the heads up.

TNA Thursday Randomania - Mar 13, 2014

- So MVP is now in charge of wrestling operations in TNA and I couldn't be happier because this is all part of the new creative direction we've been hearing about the last several months.  This is the reason why Dixie Carter has been on television for over six months.  It's to set up this moment - the moment in which TNA as a company transitions into the next phase of their development.  I'm not exactly sure what that entails but we will most likely find out tonight.  I imagine MVP will address the fans on tonight's live Impact but judging by his latest #IMPACT365 video with the Wolves, it sounds like wrestling will be front and center in his TNA.

12 March 2014

TNA Officially Introduces New Knockout!

For those who aren't familiar, Brittany is Santana Garrett from the indies. We had known that she signed a contract with TNA for quite a while so it's good to finally see the company introduce her to the fans. According to TNA, she will make her TNA debut (as Brittany) on tomorrow night's live Impact.  Click here to read the full press release on TNA's site.

Submit Your Questions for Behind The Curtain!

After a fairly long hiatus, Behind The Curtain is back and taking questions for the next edition. There's many hot topics at the moment including the fallout from Lockdown, the rumoured shake-up in the Knockouts, more new and old faces returning and much, much more. If you have any questions regarding any of those subjects or any topic regarding TNA, simply post it in the comments section below and I'll answer it in the next Behind The Curtain Q&A.

Dixie Carter Tribute Planned for This Thursday's Impact

This should be interesting as Rockstar Spud is simply hilarious in these types of settings but I have a feeling that this will not end well for Dixie Carter and/or Spud. In any case, I'm sure there will be those who will cringe at the thought of more Dixie on TV but this tribute makes perfect sense from a storyline standpoint. I'm looking forward to it as I think it's important to end the Team Dixie era with a bang.

11 March 2014

Could TNA benefit from a Pay What You Want model?

From their recent multi-year deals with NTV in Japan, Sony Six in India, the tremendous success of the 2014 UK Maximum Impact Tour and Dixie Carter teasing that they may be taking TNA to both Canada and France, there is no denying that TNA has taken great strides in this past year to bring their brand of wrestling to an international market.

TNA wrestling fans the World over are some of the most loyal and enthusiastic in the business, so is it time for us the international fans to put our money where our mouth is and be given the opportunity to show our support for TNA financially?

A Wrestling Fan Addresses the Mistreatment of TNA

We'd like to thank Bill Schuyler for allowing us to post his video on TNAMecca.  We feel that Bill speaks for so many wrestling fans, and in this case, every TNA fan so we strongly encourage you to take a moment and watch his video.  If you would like to hear more from Bill, simply follow him on Twitter and subscribe to his Youtube page as he's, just like so many of us, a passionate longtime wrestling fan.

My Thoughts on TNA Lockdown 2014

I have to admit, my expectations for this year's Lockdown were very high and that's a testament to the outstanding build by TNA the last month or so.  Did the PPV live up to my expectations? No.  But I was thoroughly entertained by the show and its interesting (and at times wacky) moments.  After the show, I was left with a feeling of optimism for the future as I find that the new characters and the new creative direction resonate with me.  I paid $49.99 for Lockdown last night and I feel like it was well worth it. Lockdown was three hours of fun in-ring action, killer spots, fascinating character development, good storyline progression, and a couple of nice surprises.  There were also some odd moments but none that I found terribly awful. Perhaps questionable might be a better description, and that's fine as everything in pro wrestling is subjective. But that's part of what makes wrestling so much fun, the debating.

Pick 'em League: Season Finale Round-Up

Last nights Lockdown PPV marked the end of TNAMecca's inaugural Pick 'em League, and it was a great way to end the first season. Almost every match on the show was tough to call, an argument could be made for every participant competing on the show, and combined with this being the final show in the Pick 'em League's first season, it made Lockdown a must-see event. With several people in with a chance to win the league, anticipation was pretty high, so without delaying it anymore, lets look at the breakdown of the picks:

#REWIND365: 24 Feb - 09 Mar 2014

Welcome to #REWIND365 Where the Reaction Never Ends, a selective look at the fortnight's offerings from #IMPACT365.  It has been a busy two weeks in Wembley as the 2014 UK tour came to an end. Two main event screwjobs, two titles changing hands over in Japan, and a tremendous build up to one of the most hotly anticipated PPVs in a long time.  Whether it was shares in the company, settling scores, or seeking gold, there was a lot riding on many of the Lockdown matches and #IMPACT365 went into overdrive to help sell the action.  In case you missed any of the pre-Lockdown build up, here is a top three pick of what was on offer.

Post-Lockdown Discussion for Mar 9, 2014

Please feel free to share with us your thoughts on tonight's Lockdown PPV from Miami, Florida.  What did you think of the show?  What did you like or dislike?  Let us know.

TNA Sunday Randomania - Mar 9, 2014

- Welcome to a special Randomania on this beautiful Sunday afternoon, just mere hours until Lockdown airs live from Miami, Florida.  This is a show that so many TNA fans are looking forward to due to the exceptional build by TNA in the last month.  I can only speak for myself but I'm excited about every single match on tonight's card, each for different reasons.  Overall, however, this is the best build for a TNA PPV in several years.

Pick 'em League: Make Your Lockdown Picks Now!

The Polls for the final event in Season 1, Lockdown, are now open. 24 points are up for grabs at this event as well as a tiebreaker question in the case of a draw for first place after Lockdown. As always, you must make a pick for all matches and can only submit one predictions form per user, any further forms under the same name will not be counted. Find out this Sunday at Lockdown!

The Polls for Lockdown are now Closed, Good Luck to all of those who made their picks.

PREVIEW: Samoa Joe vs. Magnus - TNA World Heavyweight Championship

One of the most refreshing things that has played out on TNA programming in 2014 has been the resurgence of the one and only Samoa Joe.  It's not even debatable that this is the strongest that Joe has looked since at least 2008 as he showed passion and was ON FIRE during the U.K. Tour.  Joe has also been the leading vote getter amongst fans in two separate polls that we have ran here at TNAMecca (Favorite Plot/Sub-Plot and Eventual Champion to beat Magnus). However, the young and debonair World Champion Magnus could care less about The Samoan Submission Machine's heart-warming comeback story.

PREVIEW: Lethal Lockdown - Team MVP vs Team Dixie

In September of last year, Dixie Carter shocked the world when she showed a side we had never seen of her, a side we didn't even know she had. Carter was known for being friendly, caring and considerate, always trying to do the best for the fans and for her employee's, but after years of insults from both viewers and ex-employee's, Dixie finally snapped. Since her new attitude emerged, Carter hasn't been shy of showing who her favourites are, assembling what has been dubbed as "Team Dixie", a group including her hand picked Champion Magnus, her nephew EC3, The BroMans & Rockstar Spud, as well as associates such as Bobby Roode and Bad Influence, who have more of a "I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine" relationship. This has caused a rift between the locker room, Dixie's supporters on one side and her detractors on the other, but recently those in the locker room who were anti-Dixie met a new investor, and someone who shared the same view on Carter as they did, MVP.

Saturday Night Chat - Mar 8, 2014

PREVIEW: Samuel Shaw vs. Mr. Anderson

Samuel Shaw has gotten everybody's attention, the "Creepy Bastard" who wants to know "your location" has created quite a stir with his very public courting and break up with TNA ring announcer Christy Hemme. From mannequins in the basement to choking out his opponents and whispering "SHHHH" in their ear, Shaw is one of the most unique and interesting characters in wrestling today, maybe even the MOST interesting. However, because of the uniqueness of the character many wondered "Who will be Samuel's first real feud?" Obviously he HAS to wrestle someone (it's not like he is going to wrestle Christy). Enter Mr. Anderson.

PREVIEW: Gunner vs James Storm

Whilst Lockdown 2013 provided one of the minor highlights of the Aces & Eights saga as Bully Ray clouted Hardy with a hammer to become World Champion, it will not go down in history as a PPV that delivered on non-title matches.  Who remembers the epic clashes between Robbie E and Robbie T?  Joseph Park and Joey Ryan?  Kurt Angle and Gerald Brisco's son?

Me neither.  If you do remember any of these matches, I'd hasten to guess it is for the wrong reasons.

07 March 2014

Kurt Angle Out of Lockdown!

Kurt Angle tweeted the following concerning the attack he suffered at the hands of EC3 on last night's Impact:

Obviously this is disappointing news for many who looked forward to seeing Angle wrestle Ethan Carter III in the cage this Sunday, not only because of the potential quality match that could have seen but also this bout would have been EC3's biggest match to date, and Angle always delivers a stellar performance at Lockdown. Angle had surgery straight after the UK tour and said he would be cleared to wrestle by Lockdown, and at the time said it was to remove some bone fragments that were floating around his knee and causing him problems, however ImpactWrestling.com is reporting that Angle has torn his MCL.

PREVIEW: Madison Rayne vs. Gail Kim - TNA Knockouts Championship

Gail Kim and Madison Rayne have a storied history with one another dating back to when the two were Knockout Tag Team Champions and "BFFS". Madison's return a few months ago was well received as she gave Gail a new opponent besides ODB and Velvet Sky (it's obvious we are not going with a Lei'd Tapa feud just yet). Madison's title win at Genesis took some by surprise because she hadn't been back long and really wasn't much of a focus. While this feud has not gotten a lot of attention, the in ring work has been outstanding. The street fight in the UK was excellent; even with limited time to work with; Rayne and Kim put on a hell of a show. Hopefully, they will have more time on pay per view and anybody that remembers Lockdown 2007 knows what Gail is willing to do in the cage.

PREVIEW: Kurt Angle vs Ethan Carter III

It was January 23rd, 2014 and TNA was in Huntsville, Alabama.  Kurt Angle had just come off a huge victory against Bobby Roode inside a steel cage.  He could have taken the rest of the night off but the Olympic Gold Medalist knew his night wasn't over until he made sure that his good friend Sting didn't suffer the same fate as AJ Styles at the hands of Team Dixie.  Unfortunately, Dixie Carter's crew was too much for Kurt Angle and his allies to handle as Sting was defeated by Magnus and was sent packing.  Due to his involvement, however, Angle became a target of Team Dixie's, which led to a brutal attack by Ethan Carter III on Angle's knee during his match against the TNA world champion Magnus in Glasgow, Scotland.  This was a new side of EC3, a meaner EC3, which incidentally emerged after the members of Team Dixie, including his aunt, began to treat him like an outsider.  All of a sudden, a prominent member of the top heel alliance was found in a position in which he needed to somehow prove himself...to his own aunt.  The result: Ethan Carter III targeted and attacked Kurt Angle, which some would call TNA's alpha male, albeit a wounded one.  Last week, during Kurt Angle's TNA Hall of Fame induction, EC3 proceeded to mock the seasoned veteran (as well as the dirtsheets) by embellishing his knee injury.  In the end, it backfired on the young lion as Angle officially announced that he and EC3 would face each other inside the steel cage at Lockdown, as per MVP's approval.

Post-IMPACT Discussion for Mar 6, 2014

One of my favorite activities after watching Impact is searching for forums in which fans can talk about the show and share with one another their thoughts.  However, it's getting increasingly harder to find venues where TNA fans can safely express their opinions on Impact without having to deal with the trolling of the anti-TNA crowd or the smarks who insist on taking the fun out of pro wrestling.

For this reason, we felt it was important to make TNAMecca available to its readers and any TNA fans who would like to discuss the show after watching it.  You can now visit TNAMecca immediately following Impact to do exactly that in the comments section below each and every week.  So please feel free to share with us your thoughts on tonight's Impact from London.  What did you think of the show?  What did you like or dislike?  Let us know.

Location for Slammiversary Announced!

TNA announced this afternoon that this year's Slammiversary will take place at the College Park Center in Arlington, TX on the University of Texas campus on Sunday, June 15th.  For those wondering, this is the venue where Slammiversary 2012 took place and from what I remember, the crowd was fantastic, so I'm fairly satisfied with this news.  Texas has been hit or miss as far as TNA shows are concerned but the Dallas/Fort Worth area is probably their most favorable location in the state. TNA Thursday Randomania - Mar 6, 2014

- If you're a TNA fan, there are very few things that are more exciting than the Thursday prior to one of the big three PPVs.  Without fail, the go-home shows for Lockdown, Slammiversary, and Bound for Glory seem to generate a sense of excitement among fans, even when the build for the PPV has been lackluster.  Thankfully, this year, the build for Lockdown has been very strong.  In fact, I'd say it's been one of the best I've seen since becoming a fan.  One can easily point to the intensely personal and well-written feuds to explain the success of this year's build but I believe it's the exceptionally developed characters.  Never has there been a time in TNA's history when the writers focused so much attention on creating and developing so many fascinating new characters while rejuvenating old fan favorites.  It's for that reason why, I believe, the build to Lockdown has been hugely successful.

Developing Story: Brooke Tessmacher Done with TNA?

Yesterday, it was brought to our attention that Brooke Tessmacher had deleted her accounts on Twitter and Facebook.  Although her profile remains on TNA's roster on their site, this led to speculation that she may have left the company.  That certainly may be the case but we chose not to report this until we had evidence that was a bit more concrete.  Well, today, Tessmacher changed her username on Instagram (an account she did not delete) to thebrookeadams, which is her real name, and added the following cryptic message, "Things change for a reason."  I think it's safe to say that her status has changed, whether it'd be in real life or kayfabe.  In any case, it's all speculation until we hear something official from Brooke or TNA.

Reality vs. Dream

The Reality

Like a boy who constantly gets rejected by that hot girl, and in the end, ignores, or worse, mistreats the one girl who he has the most connection with. Why? Human nature, I guess. And that goes with how I view the state of the wrestling scene in America right now.

The majority of today’s wrestling fans still dismiss TNA as nothing more than a joke, while the rest of those fans, the indie fans to be precise, are just waiting for TNA to stumble so that their indie fed, whichever it may be, can “take their spot” on the totem pole. To that I say good luck, since they will need every ounce of it just to be picked up by a willing channel. Be as it may, I’m not turning a blind eye to the mistakes that TNA has made over the years. In fact, I’m still grumbling over numerous decisions that led to the rapid decline of the X Division, the Knockouts Division and the Tag Team Division. Also of note is how TNA can’t seem to properly market their product. Let’s be realistic, tweeting about an event can only get you so far before you wind up with a half-empty arena. Where are the commercials that air not just on Thursday nights but every other day of the week? Where are the print ads on billboards, newspapers and magazines? Where are the plugs on radio and TV talks shows? Who exactly is running TNA’s marketing department and can they get someone who can do a better job? And don’t even get me started on the constant power struggles that have plagued the company ever since the Sports Entertainment Xtreme faction.

Developing Story: Bully Ray to Make Career Decision

I'm not sure what to make of this cryptic tweet by Bully Ray but he's certainly gotten our attention.  We haven't seen Ray since his loss to Mr. Anderson in a Casket Match a couple of weeks ago so it'll be interesting to see in what direction TNA take his character next.  Whatever it is, I'm sure it will be fun to watch as Bully Ray is one of the best heels in pro wrestling right now.

The New Global X Division?

By now, you've all heard the huge news coming out of Tokyo, Japan yesterday that Seiya Sanada defeated Austin Aries to become the new TNA X Division champion.  It was an historic moment in the company's history and one that could pave the way for the next chapter in this prestigious title's history.  I realize that we get some sort of hype by TNA every year about their latest attempt to re-build the division but I think it's important to note that this year, TNA did very little hyping and allowed their actions to speak louder than their words.  If you needed any proof, simply look at the photo below for a few minutes and let it all soak in.
